In the process of building new rural areas, Quang Ninh has devoted resources to preserving and promoting indigenous cultural values, building cultural institutions and promoting traditional cultural values to the outside world, turning traditional culture into a resource to serve development.
Units and localities have also actively conducted research, collected, preserved, promoted the value and restored the culture of ethnic minorities, such as the custom of singing in pairs on the sea in Cua Van fishing village, singing at the house, singing and dancing at the communal house, the cap sac festival, the festival of going to the fields... Localities have mobilized resources to effectively preserve traditional cultural and historical festivals. Many festivals have been successfully restored, methodically, and in accordance with the traditional identity of the nation, such as the cultural and sports festivals of the Dao, Tay, San Chi, San Diu ethnic groups...
Associated with traditional festivals are folk games, cultural forms, traditional arts, costumes, folk knowledge of forestry - agriculture - fisheries, traditional culinary culture, preserved in villages, hamlets, and ethnic minority groups in the province. Ethnic sports such as stick pushing, rowing, archery, crossbow shooting, tug of war... have been officially included in the annual sports competitions of the province.
Quang Ninh also allocates funds to support localities in building cultural villages of the Tay and San Chi ethnic groups in Binh Lieu district; the Dao ethnic group in Quang La, Tien Yen, Mong Cai... and at the same time, it promotes people's awareness and responsibility in preserving traditional costumes, traditional production tools; musical instruments, instruments... that are still preserved and used in daily life.
In particular, the province also regularly maintains the organization of the Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival, the Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival in the Northeast, the Quang Ninh Province Culture and Sports Festival... with unique cultural and tourism products. The football matches of San Chi girls in Binh Lieu; the Chicken King contest, the chicken culinary contest in Tien Yen; street food festivals, street art festivals... have brought an attractive and colorful cultural space, contributing to affirming the mark of a land rich in cultural identity.
Regarding traditional craft village culture, Quang Ninh has about 20 craft villages with many different industries and occupations, including recognized traditional occupations and craft villages. These occupations are facilitated by the province and locality to develop, both preserving their own characteristics and integrating into the market.
From the concern for preserving, conserving and promoting traditional cultural values, up to now Quang Ninh has 637 tangible cultural heritages (communal houses, pagodas, temples, shrines, scenic spots...), 362 intangible cultural heritages (festivals, customs, practices, folk games...), more than 100 festivals, of which 76 festivals have been inventoried and included in the list of intangible cultural heritages, 12 intangible cultural heritages have been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages. The Then practice heritage of the Tay people in Binh Lieu is listed as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Yen Tu is recognized as a World Cultural Heritage... This is the asset and huge development potential of Quang Ninh, aiming to continue to increase the material and spiritual life values for local people.
