Nguyen Quan Nho Temple in Ward 5, Thieu Hoa Commune.
In the context of merging and rearranging administrative units at all levels, those tangible cultural values are the "bridge", the bond that unites the community, anchors the village soul, and positions the identity in the general picture. Deeply aware of that, Thieu Hoa commune has quickly implemented activities to do a good job of preserving and promoting the value of relics in the area after the merger.
The People's Committee of the commune has urgently reviewed and assessed the current status of the relics, on that basis, it has prepared a report on the results of the implementation of preservation, renovation, restoration and prevention of degradation of the relics in the period of 2021-2025. At the same time, it has proposed a list of preservation, renovation, restoration and promotion of the value of relics in the commune in the period of 2026-2030 for 4 relics including: The historical - cultural relic of Van Tu - Stele of Doan Quyet village; the historical - cultural relic of Nguyen Quan Nho temple; the historical - cultural relic of Nguyen Quang Minh temple; the historical - cultural relic of Vinh Phuc pagoda, with a total estimated cost of 63.25 billion VND.
Located in Ward 5, Nguyen Quan Nho Temple, although not large in scale or architecturally impressive, evokes a sense of serenity, like a watercolor painting in the overall picture of a peaceful countryside. Doctor Nguyen Quan Nho was an excellent son of Dong Trieu village, Van Ha commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Thanh Hoa province during the Later Le Dynasty. During his life as an official, through many kings, Doctor Nguyen Quan Nho was always an honest official, wholeheartedly serving the people and the country, and was praised by the people: "Prime Minister Van Ha, the world sings".
Nguyen Quan Nho Temple was built a long time ago, and was destroyed at one point, leaving only the back palace. Later, the temple was restored, embellished, and rebuilt with a three-room front hall. Mr. Nguyen Ba Quyen, 66 years old, who is currently the person directly in charge of looking after and taking care of the incense at the temple, said: “Over time, many parts of the temple have deteriorated, especially the back palace area. Because it was built a long time ago, the back palace of the temple is quite small, the roof leaks a lot, making the space damp and moldy... To overcome this situation, we have reinforced it by covering the roof of the back palace with a tarpaulin, but this is only a temporary solution. We request that all levels and sectors pay attention and soon restore and embellish the temple to be worthy of a national relic, with the achievements and contributions of Mr. Nguyen Quan Nho in the history of the nation.”
Vice Chairman of Thieu Hoa Commune People's Committee Do Thanh Dong said: The Commune People's Committee has just held a conference to give opinions on the plan to renovate and embellish Nguyen Quan Nho Temple. The planned construction items include the rear palace, left wing, right wing, bell tower, drum tower, triple gate, guardian house, octagonal tower, four-pillar gate... The area of the temple is expanded to over 3,200m2, with a total investment of 58 billion VND. Along with that, the Commune People's Committee is actively completing documents and procedures to submit to competent authorities for consideration and approval of the investment policy for the project to renovate and embellish the historical and cultural relic of Dinh Le Temple. This is one of the projects receiving financial support for the preservation, renovation, restoration and prevention of degradation of historical and cultural relics in the province in the period of 2022-2025. However, due to the implementation of administrative unit arrangement and organization of 2-level local government, the implementation of some subsequent procedures and processes requires time to update and adjust according to Decree No. 208/2025/ND-CP dated July 17, 2025 of the Government .
The rearrangement of administrative units and the implementation of a two-level local government not only creates new spaces for villages and communes, but also opens up new opportunities to promote cultural development. Alluvial branches will converge to create a unified cultural flow in diversity. The strength of culture is transmission and continuity. Therefore, in the coming time, Thieu Hoa commune will continue to synchronously implement solutions to promote the conservation and promotion of relic values, thereby serving well the education of revolutionary traditions, history - culture associated with tourism development, creating a driving force to promote local socio-economic development.
