Art performance to welcome the ceremony
On December 23, 1970, Deputy Prime Minister Do Muoi signed Decision No. 268/TTg allowing the Central Youth Union to build a Youth Economic Zone in 7 communes of Thanh Son district, Vinh Phu province, including: Minh Dai, Tan Phu, My Thuan, Van Luong, Long Coc, Tam Thanh, Van Mieu, in which Minh Dai commune is the center. On February 23, 1971, the Youth Economic Zone was officially established and put into operation with the code KKT-TN-70-40. With the spirit of three readiness, the excellent children from Ha Nam, Thai Binh , Hai Hung, Vinh Phu... did not hesitate to face difficulties, building a new economic model, a large practical school, training young workers, good cadres, as the core for the development of the country.
At noon on September 20, 1972, American planes suddenly attacked, dropping 126 bombs on the central area of Thanh Nien Economic Zone, 45 comrades were killed, 25 comrades were injured. In response to that loss, the Economic Zone's leadership launched a movement to "turn pain into strength". In nearly 4 years, 500 hectares of hills and fields were cleared, and a transportation and irrigation system was built. The Zone boldly introduced banana trees into the world, and in the first crop, 150 tons of bananas were exported to the Soviet Union.
Comrade Hoang Anh Nghia - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Minh Dai commune delivered the opening speech.
After more than 50 years of striving to build and grow, the Youth Economic Zone has won many noble awards. In 2012, it was ranked by the Provincial People's Committee as a Provincial Historical Relic. On April 14, 2025, the location of the Youth Economic Zone in 1970, Minh Dai commune, was ranked as a National Historical Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Trong Tan gave a speech and presented a congratulatory flower basket to the Party Committee, government and people of Minh Dai commune.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Trong Tan affirmed: During the resistance war against the US, Minh Dai Youth Economic Zone was established with the mission of being both a new economic model and a great practical school for young people. Today, the area has become a red address, a vivid lesson about patriotism, strong will and aspiration to contribute of Vietnamese youth. The fact that the relic was honored at the national level has affirmed the great historical - cultural - educational value of the Youth Economic Zone for today's and future generations. He hopes that the Party Committee, the government of Minh Dai commune, and relevant agencies need to continue to proactively coordinate and mobilize social resources to preserve, restore and promote the value of the relic in a sustainable way, so that this place becomes a "red address" to educate traditions for the young generation. Linking the relic with local socio-economic development, especially exploiting the potential of cultural - historical - spiritual - ecological tourism, so that the relic truly becomes a driving force for development, contributing to improving the lives of the people of Minh Dai and neighboring areas. Strengthening propaganda and education work, organizing "return to the source" activities, so that the flame of revolutionary ideals and the spirit of dedication of the youth generation of the past are passed on, continuing forever for today's and future generations.
