Barca chooses Rashford, with unfavorable conditions for Man United

(NLDO) - Barca, having fallen into a deadlock with the Diaz deal, has turned to Rashford with a recruitment plan that is disadvantageous to Man United.

Barcelona are trying to sign a versatile striker who can play on the left wing or as a centre-forward. The two top targets in this plan are both from the Premier League: Luis Diaz (Liverpool) and Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).

Sporting director Deco rated Diaz higher for his physical strength, fighting spirit and ability to create breakthroughs. However, the price of 70-80 million euros that Liverpool offered exceeded Barca's budget, causing the deal to come to a dead end.

In that context, Barca have turned to Rashford, who will return to Man Utd after Aston Villa did not buy him outright due to failing to qualify for the Champions League. According to Fabrizio Romano, Rashford will be put up for sale immediately for £40 million, the same amount Villa had the right to pay.

Barca aims for Rashford to replace Diaz

According to Mundo Deportivo , Barca decided to push ahead with the Rashford deal because it was more feasible. Rashford's representative met with Deco in Barcelona. Rashford is willing to take a big pay cut of £325,000/week to complete the deal, because playing for Barca is his dream.

Man United are keen to sell the striker outright for a profit - something that is especially important given their failure to qualify for European competition next season. However, according to Sport journalist Toni Juanmarti, Barca are only proposing a loan deal with an option to buy. This is an option that does not bring immediate financial benefits to the Red Devils.

Both sides are showing goodwill, but differences in transfer methods are the biggest obstacle preventing the deal from going further.
