Barcelona make a fortune after winning La Liga

Barcelona could pocket a huge amount of money thanks to this year's La Liga title.

Unlike other European leagues, La Liga does not set a fixed prize money for the champion. Instead, the prize money is mainly divided between the 20 participating clubs from television rights revenue.

After winning La Liga, Barcelona is expected to receive around 17% of the total prize fund, equivalent to around 58.4 million euros. However, if other bonuses are included, the team's total income could reach 200 million euros. This is an attractive bonus, helping the team improve its financial situation significantly.

However, Barcelona will not receive the full amount, as they have sold part of their future television rights to US investment firm Sixth Street. This means that a portion of La Liga's revenue will be used to pay for the deal.

In addition, the La Liga prize money will not be paid in one lump sum but will be divided over five years: 35% in the first year, 20% in the second year and 15% for the next three years. This is to ensure financial stability and encourage clubs to spend responsibly.

According to AS , President Joan Laporta also confirmed that players will be rewarded for each championship won in the 2024/25 season. The bonus amount is expected to be around 1 million euros/player for each title won.

This season, Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey. Notably, the bonus for the Copa del Rey title only applies if the team wins another title (currently La Liga).

Barcelona are also expected to collect nearly 120 million euros in prize money from UEFA for reaching the Champions League semi-finals.
