Today (October 30), Tra Vinh Provincial Police informed about the prosecution of an officer and his title of People's Police was stripped.

Accordingly, through inspection work on vehicle registration at the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) from 2016-2019, Tra Vinh Provincial Police discovered 149 cases with signs of suspicious interference with vehicle registration software, exchanging motorcycle registration information to issue license plates in violation of regulations.

The investigation determined that five officers, former leaders, commanders and officers assigned to register vehicles at the Traffic Police Department, committed violations by using personal vehicle registration accounts to swap license plates according to the needs of people registering vehicles.

On October 29, Tra Vinh Provincial Police took disciplinary action by "stripping the title of People's Police", prosecuted and arrested 4 defendants for temporary detention, and banned 1 defendant from leaving his place of residence for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties".

Specifically, Tra Vinh Provincial Police prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Van Chanh - former Head of Traffic Police Department (retired from May 2022); Mr. Tran Van Hen - former Captain, Traffic Police Department; Nguyen Van Hoai Hao - former Deputy Captain, Department of Administrative Management of Social Order Police; Le Minh Hieu - former officer of Traffic Police Department.

Prosecution and house arrest of Mr. Ly Van Trong - former Deputy Head of Mobile Police Department (due to wife's serious illness).

The Investigation Police Agency, Tra Vinh Provincial Police are continuing to collect information and documents to investigate and expand the case according to the provisions of law.
