Music tourism combines enjoying musical events with sightseeing and relaxation. In recent years, the demand for combining music with tourism has been increasing worldwide. Many event organizers and travel agencies in Quang Ninh have also collaborated to organize music tourism tours, achieving initial success.
Quang Ninh boasts many beautiful natural landscapes and a rich, diverse culture, which can be combined with music to create unique music tourism products. In addition, the friendliness and hospitality of the people of Quang Ninh, along with the vibrant life in its cities, are also favorable conditions for music tourism activities. Currently, this trend is beginning to be enthusiastically embraced by the public, contributing to attracting a significant number of tourists to Quang Ninh.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi My Liem, a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Musicians Association, a member of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, former Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, and lecturer at the Faculty of Arts, Saigon University, music tourism is a cultural product. And as a cultural product, it must always be new and creative. "Therefore, I think Quang Ninh can do it. Why? Because Quang Ninh has many potentials, and tourism is one of the potentials of the cultural industry, a type of industry that is prioritized for development and has brought many economic benefits," Dr. Liem analyzed.
The trend of music tourism is currently being researched and promoted in Quang Ninh. Several tourism programs combining small-scale performances have been quite successful, such as: Music Nights on Pine Trees, and music performances on cruise ships touring Ha Long Bay, regularly inviting famous singers and artists, including foreign singers. Quang Ninh not only organizes international music events but also hosts performances by established local singers such as Quang Tho, Ho Quynh Huong, and Den Vau, attracting large audiences and providing opportunities for them to experience tourism services at the destination.
However, we cannot develop music tourism indiscriminately just to attract more tourists. Authorities need to research and develop policies to encourage investment from businesses and individuals in developing music tourism and related activities such as organizing music events. According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi My Liem, in Ha Long, we must consider what kind of music truly reflects the Ha Long identity. Music will have a more effective impact on tourism, but it's crucial to incorporate music with Quang Ninh's unique identity into tourism products. This could include Quang Ninh folk songs, stories of successful Quang Ninh singers and artists, or even music from other regions, blended with light music and pop to create a more cheerful atmosphere.
In addition, large-scale, high-quality music festivals should be regularly organized at fixed times to foster a habit of music tourism. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi My Liem believes that the Quang Ninh Music Festival should be supported to create opportunities for people to meet, interact, and exchange ideas, thereby discovering more issues. If you are a performer, watching others perform will help you realize what they do better than you, what aspects are more distinctive, and how to improve. Music festivals always bring lasting effects, not just immediate ones. Gradually, people will come to Quang Ninh for tourism, even in winter, and learn more about Quang Ninh. In the long term, the effects of the music festival will spread even further.
"What surprises me most about Quang Ninh is that it produces many people with beautiful singing voices. This was true in the past and continues to be so today. Therefore, perhaps we should consider bringing together these renowned singers at a music festival to create a distinctive Quang Ninh experience and encourage the people of Quang Ninh," Ms. Liem commented.
