Bayern create a six-point gap with Man Utd

VnExpressVnExpress03/10/2023

Denmark's Bayern came from behind to beat Copenhagen 2-1, widening the gap with Man Utd in Group A of the Champions League.

After a 2-2 draw at Galatasaray in their opening game, Copenhagen continued to play well against Bayern. In the 4th minute, Mohamed Elyounoussi threatened goalkeeper Sven Ulreich's goal. The home team also defended effectively against Bayern. In the first half, the German football giant only had two truly dangerous situations. Joshua Kimmich missed a chance when he curled the ball over the bar, while Leroy Sane's long-range shot went straight into goalkeeper Kamil Grabara's hands.

Harry Kane played highest up front in Bayern's attack, but had almost no chances. The English striker's most notable move was when he got offside and shot the ball past Grabara in the 16th minute.

After the break, Copenhagen continued to stalk Bayern. In the 56th minute, the home team unexpectedly opened the score. After Viktor Claesson's header ricocheted off Kim Min Jae's foot, Lukas Lerager volleyed the ball into Ulreich's net.

However, Bayern showed their mettle in difficult times. 11 minutes after falling behind, the German team equalized. After a pass from Noussair Mazraoui, Jamal Musiala dribbled through the middle, past a defender, and curled the ball into the far corner of the Copenhagen goal.

From the 77th minute, coach Thomas Tuchel brought Thomas Muller and Mathys Tel onto the field. Just six minutes later, these two players combined to seal the victory for Bayern. Muller escaped to face Grabara, then passed to the left for Tel to finish in a more favorable position.

Bayern continue to lead Group A of the Champions League, with six points after two matches. Previously, in the first round, they beat Man Utd 4-3. Meanwhile, Galatasaray ranked second, after Man Utd won 3-2 at Old Trafford. Copenhagen is ranked third with one point, while the "Red Devils" are bottom and have no points.

Bayern will next face Galatasaray. A win would see Tuchel's side advance to the round of 16. Bayern are currently unbeaten in 36 games and have won 15 straight Champions League group stage games. Both are records for the competition.
