Officers of Tran Island Border Guard Station help people tie and reinforce aquaculture cages.
Specifically, the unit has established two working groups with 13 officers and soldiers, directly going to Tran village to propagate and mobilize fishermen to strictly follow the instructions on storm prevention and control, not to go out to sea to fish, and promptly bring their vehicles to safe shelters.
Thanks to the initiative, perseverance in sticking to the area, and mobilizing "going to every alley, knocking on every boat", by early afternoon of the same day, the unit had mobilized 63 vehicles with 125 crew members to a safe anchorage, following the instructions of the functional forces. At the same time, officers and soldiers also supported 2 households in tying down their houses and reinforcing aquaculture cages to minimize damage when the storm hit.
Officers of Tran Island Border Guard Station went to each fishing boat to propagate and mobilize fishermen to prevent storms.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of July 19, storm Wipha entered the northeastern sea area of the North East Sea, becoming the third storm in 2025. It is forecasted that in the next 24-48 hours, the storm will move in a West-Northwest direction, directly affecting the northeastern coastal provinces, including Quang Ninh . Due to the influence of the storm, the sea area east of the Gulf of Tonkin, especially the Tran island area, will gradually increase in strength to level 6-7, the area near the storm's center will increase in strength to level 8-9, then increase to level 10-11, gusting to level 13, waves 4-6m high, and the sea will be very rough.
With the motto "4 on-site", Tran Island Border Guard Station has proactively deployed plans to prevent and combat natural disasters; arranged 100% of its personnel on duty, readying forces and means to participate in rescue when situations arise. At the same time, the unit strictly maintains the duty and command regime, maintains smooth communication, closely coordinates with local authorities and forces on the island to closely monitor weather developments, ensuring absolute safety for people and property.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Cuong, Political Commissar of Dao Tran Border Post, said: “With the spirit of being proactive and not being surprised in any situation, the unit has determined that propaganda work, mobilizing fishermen to take shelter and supporting people to reinforce their houses and cages are the top urgent tasks at this time. All work must be completed before the storm makes landfall to minimize damage.”
Tran Island is a northeastern outpost of the country, with harsh weather conditions and limited facilities for anchoring ships, so whenever there is a big storm, response work always poses many challenges. However, with the spirit of "The station is home, the border is homeland", officers and soldiers of Tran Island Border Guard Station are always active and proactive in coordinating with functional forces on the island, standing side by side with the people to cope with storms, protecting the safety of the island and fishermen.
