On the afternoon of July 11th, Mr. Le Van Hoe, head of Phu Lam village (Huong Khe commune, Ha Tinh province), reported that a cow in the area had given birth to a very rare female calf with two heads joined together.
According to initial information, on July 10th, at the household of Mr. LVH (residing in Phu Lam village), a cow weighing nearly 100kg was in labor but was experiencing difficulties giving birth.
Immediately after discovering the incident, Mr. LVH's family quickly mobilized relatives, neighbors, and veterinary officers to help. However, because the calf had two heads joined together, it wasn't until late that evening that it could be pulled out of the mother cow's womb. The calf had already died before being pulled out.
Mr. LVH stated that the calf's entire body was covered in reddish-brown fur, weighed over 10kg, and had one anus, four legs, and one tail, all of which were normally developed. However, the calf had two identical heads joined together, which was "unusual," with each head having two eyes, two ears, one mouth, and two nostrils.
During childbirth, if one end of the calf emerges while the other remains stuck inside the mother's abdomen for an extended period, it can lead to suffocation and death.
This is the cow's second calving; the first calf developed normally.
