With a good hand in taking care of newborns, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Giau (Binh Tinh commune, Tan Tru district) is trusted and chosen by many mothers.
In Tan Tru district, Long An province, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Giau (born in 1993, residing in Binh Tinh commune) is one of the pioneers pursuing and developing the profession of caring for mothers and babies after birth. Her journey to the profession was not easy but full of passion, drawn from her own experience of being a mother.
From passion to entrepreneurial journey
After graduating from high school, Ms. Giau studied at the intermediate level of Midwifery at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City. After graduating, she worked at My Duc Hospital as a midwife. However, after more than 1 year of working, she decided to return to her hometown with the desire to stay with her family. The job was not as favorable as expected, she had to switch to many different jobs such as marketing, office worker,... However, she always cherished the plan to do business in the field of maternal and child health care.
The big turning point came when she gave birth to her first child and had to go through a psychological crisis due to unscientific confinement methods. That made her realize that the knowledge learned in school about mother and baby care was still not enough without a practical and modern perspective. From those experiences, she realized the importance of proper postpartum care and decided to return to the profession through a new path, home mother and baby care services. She began to learn and study through online courses about baby bathing, newborn psychology, milk stimulation, postpartum mother care, etc.
By 2020, she officially attended intensive training classes on weekends in Ho Chi Minh City. “At first, it was very difficult because I had to work and study at the same time. Sometimes I felt discouraged, but my love for the job helped me overcome it,” Ms. Giau shared. In 2022, after giving birth to her second child and successfully applying modern care methods to her own child-rearing process, Ms. Giau became more confident in the path she chose. From her practical experience and accumulated knowledge, she officially pursued a career in professional mother and baby care. After accumulating enough knowledge, she worked at many large spas in Ho Chi Minh City to gain more experience.
In July 2024, she decided to return to her hometown to develop her career locally. Initially, the number of customers was small, she still took care of children, traveling between Tan Tru district and Ho Chi Minh City to maintain her income, but gradually, with her dedication and "good hands" in the profession, she created trust with local mothers. "This person introduced another person, the number of customers gradually increased. Currently, every day, I take care of 3 to 5 children" - Ms. Giau said.
Love from the heart
Not only stopping at taking care of mothers and babies, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Giau also always finds ways to spread the profession by passing on her experience to young people who share the same passion.
Ms. Giau's services are diverse and flexible in packages from 15 days, 1 month to several months, depending on the needs of the mother and baby. Baby care packages include the following services: Medical standard baby bath, full body massage for babies, betel nut steaming. Mother care packages include: Facial massage, body massage, steaming, postpartum skin care for mothers,...
The cost is calculated according to the advanced package, mother and baby 120,000-180,000 VND/baby bathing session including travel distance. Ms. Giau often receives customers in Tan Tru, Chau Thanh, Ben Luc districts and Tan An city,... "Doing this job not only requires good professional skills, I also work as a "psychologist". Women after giving birth often have many changes in their psychology and physiology, so they really need someone who knows how to listen, is willing to share, confide,..." - Ms. Giau shared more.
For Ms. Giau, each working session is not only a health care task but also an opportunity to accompany, listen to and understand the feelings of mothers in the most sensitive period after giving birth. With all her love for the job, she always takes time to advise, share and support mothers to overcome difficulties in the journey of first-time motherhood.
Not only stopping at the care work, Ms. Giau also seeks to spread the profession by imparting her experience to young people with the same passion. Currently, she has trained 2 students who are also young people in the countryside with the desire to help them have a stable and meaningful job. "I used to start from zero so I understand the initial feeling of uncertainty. Now that I have the conditions, I want to share, help young people in the countryside have the opportunity to pursue the profession in a more systematic and professional way" - Ms. Giau confided.
In an era where many people choose easy, stable jobs, Ms. Giau still diligently sticks to the profession of taking care of mothers and children, a quiet but loving profession. Her journey is not only a story about starting a business but also a testament to the fact that with passion, perseverance and a loving heart, anyone can create good things and bring value to the community.
For Ms. Giau, taking care of mothers and babies after giving birth is not just a job but also a journey to sow love, give health and spread faith. A job “done with all the heart” as she often calls it./.
