Despite many difficulties, limited facilities and thin human resources, with the will to rise up, innovate management thinking and constantly improve the quality of medical services, the Hospital has become a solid support for more than 90,000 ethnic minority people in the area.
The journey of rising from hardship
Meo Vac Regional General Hospital is a grade II general hospital under the Department of Health of Tuyen Quang province, with a scale of 04 functional rooms, 17 clinical and paraclinical departments, 140 planned beds/180 actual beds.
The team of 91 staff, including 20 doctors - is a valuable number in a place lacking high-quality human resources. The daily efforts of the staff and doctors here have contributed to changing the face of highland healthcare in a more modern, professional and closer-to-the-people direction than ever before.
2024 and the first 6 months of 2025 are challenging but also remarkable periods for Meo Vac Regional General Hospital. In 2024, the Hospital received 28,614 visits, an increase of 114% compared to the target, with a bed capacity of 154%.
By the first 6 months of 2025, the number of visits increased sharply to 17,237, equivalent to 130% over the same period. The number of inpatient treatments reached 8,372 - an increase of 180% over the same period, the actual bed capacity reached 181% - an impressive figure showing the efficiency of admission and people's trust in the hospital.

Not only exceeding professional targets, the Hospital also focuses on implementing new techniques, typically hemodialysis, electrolyte testing, cervical/lumbar spine traction techniques... In particular, the Hospital has effectively implemented Project 544 - improving the quality of primary health care in border communes such as Son Vi, Nam Ban, Giang Chu Phin...
During the mobile examinations and consultations at lower levels, thousands of people were examined, consulted, and given free medicine. The implementation of diagnostic imaging techniques, emergency resuscitation, obstetrics, and traditional medicine combined with modern medicine at commune health stations has contributed to significantly reducing the burden on upper levels and improving the capacity of community health.
Digital Transformation - The Driving Force of Breakthrough
One of the highlights at Meo Vac Regional General Hospital is the strong innovation in applying information technology and comprehensive digital transformation. The LAN system, internet, and medical examination and treatment software have been upgraded from 3.0 to 6.0, the online consultation equipment (Telehealth) operates effectively, continuously connecting with provincial and central hospitals such as Bach Mai Hospital and Hanoi Medical University.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Hospital has deployed 4 more QR code readers for medical examination using chip-embedded ID cards, VNeID application, supporting cashless hospital fee payment for 100% of bills, and digital signature for over 98% of documents. More than 49,000 prescriptions have been connected to the National Prescription Portal in the first 6 months of 2025.
Electronic medical records are updated in accordance with Circular 46/2018/TT-BYT, 100% of records on birth certificates, death certificates, driver's health certificates... are digitized and connected to the health insurance agency, clearly reflecting the strong transformation in the application of digital transformation and administrative reform.
Not stopping at “taking shortcuts” to technology, the Hospital also organizes professional activities through the Z-WaKa platform – helping the medical team continuously update medical knowledge without having to travel far, saving time and costs. The departments have also applied 5S – a comprehensive quality improvement model – to 100% of employees, gradually forming a professional, orderly and efficient working culture.
Patient-centered - Development from satisfaction
In 2025, Meo Vac Regional General Hospital achieved a high satisfaction survey score: 4.8/5 for outpatients; 4.46/5 for inpatients and 4.47/5 for medical staff. This is a vivid demonstration of the effectiveness of the movements "Innovating service style and attitude towards patient satisfaction" and building a "Green - Clean - Beautiful" medical facility.

All activities from the code of conduct, maintaining a 24/7 hotline, to patient opinion surveys are carried out seriously. The hospital has not recorded any complaints or violations of the code of conduct throughout 2024 and the first half of 2025. The landscape of the facilities is increasingly improved; the departments are arranged scientifically, easy to access, creating maximum conditions for patients, especially people in remote areas.
Firm faith – Looking towards the future
In the last 6 months of 2025, Meo Vac Regional General Hospital aims to continue promoting inpatient and outpatient medical examination and treatment, enhancing responsibility, shortening treatment processes, tightening professional regulations, and developing new techniques. Non-communicable disease management models will be replicated, especially COPD, bronchial asthma, hepatitis, etc.
Regarding human resources, the Hospital focuses on building a quality successor team, focusing on postgraduate training; CKI doctors, CKI nurses, surgical instrument technicians... aiming to have no more medical staff with intermediate qualifications by the end of 2025.
At the same time, the Hospital continues to recommend the Department of Health and the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province to invest in a solid waste treatment system, extend the discharge license, allocate budget to upgrade infrastructure, add area according to the planning and invest in more modern medical equipment to serve professional work.
Although there are still many difficulties such as lack of specialized doctors, degraded facilities in some treatment areas, and unsynchronized medical equipment...
But from the “fire that tests gold”, Meo Vac Regional General Hospital is growing strongly, not only a medical symbol of a difficult border area, but also an embodiment of the love for the profession, the spirit of innovation and the aspiration to rise of people who carry in their hearts the mission of “for community health”. On the journey ahead, the Hospital continues to affirm itself as a bright spot of the Tuyen Quang medical sector – a place where seeds of hope are sown among the vast rocky mountains blooming at the headland of the Fatherland.
