Central Lung Hospital provides comprehensive support and improves the expertise of Nghe An Lung Hospital

SKĐS - The signing ceremony of cooperation between the Central Lung Hospital and Nghe An Lung Hospital opens a step forward in improving thoracic surgery capacity, helping patients access specialized techniques locally, reducing referrals, and improving treatment quality.

On the morning of November 22, at Nghe An Lung Hospital, a signing ceremony of comprehensive cooperation and transfer of thoracic surgery techniques took place between the Central Lung Hospital and Nghe An Lung Hospital.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Dinh Van Luong - Director of the Central Lung Hospital, Head of the Executive Board of the National Tuberculosis Control Program; Dr. Nguyen Van Thuong - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Health ; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai - Director of Nghe An Lung Hospital.

According to a report from Nghe An Lung Hospital, in the first 10 months of 2025, the hospital received more than 54,000 visits and more than 20,000 inpatients, with bed capacity always exceeding 115%. The number of patients with severe respiratory diseases requiring surgical intervention is increasing, while the locality does not have a complete thoracic surgery center.

The signing of the cooperation agreement is therefore of urgent significance, helping the hospital meet the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment, limit referrals and reduce the cost burden for people.

According to the signed minutes, from 2025 to 2027, the Central Lung Hospital will provide comprehensive support to Nghe An Lung Hospital, transferring specialized techniques in the fields of tuberculosis and lung diseases. In particular, in training and transferring thoracic surgery techniques, anesthesia and resuscitation; guiding the development of professional procedures; supporting the completion of facilities and operating room equipment as well as participating in quality monitoring in the initial implementation phase. The transferred techniques will be carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health , ensuring safety and effectiveness.

Nghe An Lung Hospital is responsible for unifying the development of a transfer plan between the Central Lung Hospital and Nghe An Lung Hospital; directing relevant departments/offices/centers to develop and implement specific programs and plans to implement cooperation agreements, ensuring requirements on facilities, equipment and human resources to receive technical transfer as required.

Arrange human resources and experts to serve the work of receiving training and transferring technology to ensure feasibility, efficiency and safety; arrange annual budget estimates to implement cooperation activities in accordance with legal regulations.

The Central Lung Hospital is responsible for coordinating and unifying the development of an annual transfer plan between the Central Lung Hospital and Nghe An Lung Hospital; directing the development and implementation of specific annual programs and plans to implement cooperation agreements; arranging human resources and experts for training and technical transfer in accordance with the needs and actual conditions of both parties; and strengthening post-technology transfer monitoring activities.

Nghe An Department of Health is responsible for advising the People's Committee of Nghe An province on mechanisms and policies to support Nghe An Lung Hospital in building facilities, equipment and medical human resources; directing specialized departments and affiliated units to coordinate and help Nghe An Lung Hospital develop comprehensively.

Dr. Dinh Van Luong, Senior Physician, Director of the Central Lung Hospital, Head of the Executive Board of the National Tuberculosis Control Program, spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of the Central Lung Hospital affirmed that they will closely accompany Nghe An in the transfer process, considering this an important task to develop the lung disease treatment network nationwide. The leaders of the Nghe An Department of Health also committed to creating favorable conditions in terms of mechanism, human resources and facilities for the cooperation agreement to achieve the highest efficiency.

The signing ceremony marks a close collaboration, opening a new stage of development for the pulmonary and thoracic specialties in Nghe An. When specialized techniques are successfully deployed, people in the North Central region will have access to high-quality medical services right at their localities, contributing to improving the effectiveness of community health care.

Currently, Nghe An Lung Hospital is urgently completing the infrastructure of the Thoracic Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department (60 beds), striving to put it into operation from the second quarter of 2026.
