According to Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Director of Tu Du Hospital, the Prenatal Dental Clinic was launched in November 2023. The project aims to detect and effectively treat common dental diseases in pregnant women such as gestational periodontitis, gingival tumors, and pregnancy-related dry mouth. In particular, periodontitis is a fairly common disease and can be one of the causes of premature birth and low birth weight.
The project was implemented in consultation with Japanese dental experts and in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital. The clinic is equipped with modern facilities, ensuring Japanese standards, and provides safe and effective services for pregnant women.
Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, assessed that this is the result of cooperation between Nagoya City (Japan) and Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare for mothers and children. With over 300,000 prenatal check-ups and births each year, Tu Du Hospital hopes the clinic will become a trusted address, helping pregnant women take better care of their oral health.
