The April 30th holiday, with its dry and warm weather, is ideal for tourism and exploration activities. Without rain or fog hindering the journey, visitors can enjoy various activities, pose freely, and capture beautiful photos.

However, during periods of intense sunshine and high temperatures, tourists may experience health problems such as heatstroke, sunstroke, sunburn, and fatigue due to dehydration.

To protect your health during the intense heat and fully enjoy your trip, here are some suggestions for your summer vacation.

Check the weather before making plans.

Checking the weather allows you to consider and choose the coolest destinations to avoid the heat. Additionally, travelers can plan their activities according to the weather conditions. You can take advantage of the coolest times of day, such as early morning and late afternoon, and rest during the hottest hours (10 am - 3 pm).

For summer travel, tourists should prioritize attractions with plenty of greenery or indoor entertainment venues, avoiding excessive physical activity under the sun.

By understanding the weather, tourists can prepare appropriate clothing for each location, bring medicine, and spare clothes in case they sweat a lot while traveling or enjoying water activities.

Avoid direct sunlight.

Playing and engaging in activities under direct, intense sunlight for extended periods can lead to dehydration, exhaustion, and heatstroke. To protect your health, tourists should limit prolonged exposure to strong sunlight, utilize shade from trees and shelters when participating in outdoor activities, spend more time resting indoors in well-ventilated rooms, and use air conditioning to reduce heat.

However, tourists should also avoid setting the air conditioner too low, as sudden temperature changes can lead to health risks. Additionally, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and a jacket will help prevent sunburn if you're enjoying outdoor activities.

Tourists should apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside and reapply it every 2-3 hours. Additionally, you can cool and moisturize your skin by using a handheld fan, applying facial mist, and using moisturizer.

Drink plenty of water.

Sunny weather, high temperatures, and high humidity cause the body to sweat profusely, easily leading to dehydration. However, many people tend to limit their water intake while traveling to avoid frequent bathroom breaks during activities and movement. This can lead to fatigue and muscle aches due to dehydration and electrolyte loss.

Always carry a water bottle when going out, drink water even if you don't feel thirsty, especially when engaging in outdoor physical activity, and limit your intake of sugary carbonated drinks. If you can't replenish fluids continuously throughout the trip, drink plenty of water before participating in activities such as swimming, hiking, or mountain climbing. Additionally, travelers can supplement vitamins and minerals by drinking fruit juices, mineral water, and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables throughout the trip.

Avoid food poisoning.

Hot weather causes food to spoil quickly if left outdoors, so you should avoid buying food from restaurants with poor food preservation conditions. Tourists should choose restaurants with fresh, high-quality ingredients and try to enjoy their food while it's still hot after it's been prepared. If the food has an unusual smell or color, customers should immediately inform the kitchen so that it can be addressed.

For those of you who prepare your own food at home and bring it along, choose items that are easy to store and can be kept for a while. Before eating, you should wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer to maintain personal hygiene.

Be careful when playing in the water.

On a hot sunny day, immersing oneself in cool water is a favorite activity for many, especially as summer approaches. However, tourists should be observant, choose suitable places to swim and cool off, and avoid deep water or areas with strong currents to prevent drowning. They should only swim in designated areas as instructed by the lifeguard team.

Spending too long in the sea can easily lead to sunstroke and cramps, so tourists should not be careless or overindulge in fun to the point of exhaustion. They should wear life jackets when playing, especially in rivers and lakes.
