Performance report of the play Bitter Tears of Love

On the evening of September 16, the Traditional Arts Theater organized a performance of the play “Giọt Bitter Love” in front of members of the Provincial Arts Council and a large audience. After more than a month, the production team, together with the artists, actors, and musicians of the Tuong Troupe (under the Traditional Arts Theater) completed the play, which lasted more than 90 minutes.

Bitter Tears of Love, scriptwriter Nguyen Sy Chuc, director Meritorious Artist Hoang Minh Tam. This is a historical play, with content showing a cross-section of the last years of King Le Hien Tong's reign and the first two years of King Le Chieu Thong's reign. Through the love story between the daughter of Left Admiral Vu Van Nham, Loan Trinh, and the son of Right Admiral Nguyen Huu Chinh, Quang Du, it depicts the contradiction of a love overshadowed by hatred.

Left Admiral Vu Van Nham and Right Admiral Nguyen Huu Chinh were trusted generals of Binh Bac Thuong Tuong Quan Nguyen Hue. When the Tay Son army went to Bac Ha for the first time under the name of "Supporting Le and destroying Trinh", both of them were trusted by Nguyen Hue. But when they had power in their hands, both of them committed unforgivable crimes against the people and the country, forcing them to be eliminated. Although Vu Van Nham and Nguyen Huu Chinh were two generals of the Tay Son dynasty, they harbored jealousy and envy for each other, so when they had the opportunity, they committed acts of destruction against each other.

Through a thin slice of history, the story in The Bitter Drop of Love once again mentions the morality of being a human being with “Loyalty - Filial Piety - Charity - Righteousness”, the morality of being an official with “Patriotism - Caring for the people”. Those who go the wrong way and commit acts that harm the country and the people will certainly be eliminated. The story from history is still valuable today, so that each of us knows how to keep our own reputation because “When the reputation is lost, the status is also gone” and to be an official, we must know how to care for the people and sacrifice for the country.

The play will continue to be completed according to the professional comments of the Art Council members before being performed for the public in the near future.
