The construction planning of Binh Giang district was approved by the Provincial People's Committee on June 28.
According to the approved planning, Binh Giang is an economic, cultural, scientific-technical center and a traffic hub, playing a role in promoting the socio-economic development of the southwestern region of Hai Duong province and neighboring areas. Binh Giang district is built to become a locality focusing on industrial and urban development, forming advanced urban-industrial complexes and sustainable development.
The space of Binh Giang district develops sub-regional centers in 3 directions to become new growth poles: The northern sub-region of the district (Sat) has 4 administrative units including: Ke Sat - Vinh Hung - Vinh Hong - Thuc Khang; the southern sub-region of the district (Phu) has 3 administrative units including: Thai Hoc (after the merger is Thai Minh) - Nhan Quyen - Binh Xuyen; the eastern sub-region of the district (Cay) has 1 administrative unit: Long Xuyen. These 3 sub-regions interact and complement each other, creating a strong and sustainable growth potential for the overall development of the entire Binh Giang district in the future, which is part of the concentrated industrial development sub-region of Hai Duong on a large scale.
In the future, Binh Giang in conjunction with Thanh Mien district will orient the development of a dynamic industrial zone of the province (in which the main driving force is the formation of a specialized economic zone of about 5,300 hectares). The total planned area of Binh Giang district in the specialized economic zone is about 1,933 hectares in 8 communes: Tan Hong, Binh Minh, Thai Hoc, Nhan Quyen, Co Bi, Thai Duong, Thai Hoa and Binh Xuyen. The focus is on developing industry, trade, services, logistics, urban areas and innovation centers.
According to the original goal, since 2021, Binh Giang district has developed a plan to adjust the urban planning under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, organized to collect opinions from relevant organizations and individuals on the plan to adjust the general urban planning of Binh Giang until 2040. Accordingly, Binh Giang strives to become a town. However, on October 26, 2023, the Government Office issued a notice of direction from Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on not yet establishing a general urban planning of Binh Giang because it has not yet ensured the legal conditions and urban standards as prescribed. Therefore, on October 31, 2023, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Luu Van Ban assigned the People's Committee of Binh Giang district to organize the establishment of a construction planning for Binh Giang district, and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee for approval as prescribed.
The organization of the master plan for Binh Giang urban area, the establishment of an urban development program and the project to classify and upgrade Binh Giang district to a type IV urban area will be proposed and implemented in the period of 2026-2030.
