Scoring with his warm, emotional voice and extensive football knowledge, Duc Anh is one of VTVcab's most beloved commentators.

He has also worked directly at many major sporting events such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, 2019 and 2023 Women's World Cup, or top world football matches such as El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain, Der Klassiker between Bayern Munich and Dortmund in Germany,...

Born into a family with a father, mother and sister all working in the medical field, it was thought that the path planned for the young Duc Anh would be tied to a white blouse. However, he chose a different path, where he could live fully with his passion: Football.

The times his father took him to the stadiums to watch the Vietnam National Team compete when he was young were the beginning of Duc Anh's love for the king sport. He wanted to enjoy the match fully in the commentary booth like his idols such as commentator Quang Huy and commentator Quang Tung.

And to pursue his passion, Duc Anh spent most of his free time as a student watching football matches over and over again, reading all the news in sports newspapers, and every weekend, he sat in front of the TV to "play the role" of a "kid" commentator.

Conquer your dreams

Graduated from the Academy of Journalism and Communication with a major in television, Duc Anh soon became involved in the profession when he joined the VTVcab commentator team in 2012. Touching his childhood dream, but to conquer it, commentator Duc Anh also had to go through many difficulties and challenges.

He said that commentating on international matches late at night for a long time in a row had disrupted his daily routine. Many health problems arose, significantly affecting his physical condition.

There were times when he thought about quitting and choosing a lighter job. But his passion for football and the commentary booth pulled him back to the journey of conquering his dream.

But in a profession that commentators often call “serving a hundred families”, Duc Anh always has to receive a lot of pressure from the audience. As a commentator, you have to have your own opinion, have to give your own views and opinions on every development on the field.

But everyone has different opinions, so people like and dislike each other, or compare each other with other colleagues, which is a "daily occurrence", especially in the context of social networks that are growing like today.

He gradually got used to the negative comments and considered them as motivation to improve himself. The fire of passion is always the driving force for him to continue his journey.

Spread passion with the audience

After 12 years of "inspiring" from the commentary booth, commentator Duc Anh has accompanied the audience in more than 1,000 matches in top tournaments: Bundesliga, Premier League or Champions League.

His career also gave him the opportunity to appear at many famous stadiums around the world and meet famous players such as Ryan Giggs, Paul Pogba, Hernan Crespo,... Besides his role as a commentator, Duc Anh is also a familiar host of sports entertainment talk shows for VTVcab, VTC, and National Assembly Television.

After many years of working with traditional television, commentator Duc Anh has also kept up with the times by creating more creative products on social media platforms to have the opportunity to interact and share more closely with audiences through the Youtube channel "Commentator Duc Anh" or the Tiktok channel "Duc Anh Nghien Bong Da".

And to maintain the passion, he aims to be present at 20 "must-see" football matches of his life: Liverpool vs Manchester United, Juventus vs Inter Milan, Boca Juniors vs River Plate,...

In 2024, commentator Duc Anh will also return to Europe to cover Euro 2024 in Germany, the Paris Olympics in France, and he revealed that he will also write a book about football and passion this year.
