Ministry of Public Security: Applying digital transformation in immigration management.

According to the Ministry of Public Security , taking advantage of the lenient visa policy, the situation of foreigners violating the law is becoming increasingly complex, with activities not in accordance with the purpose of entry being a prominent issue.
On December 6th, the Ministry of Public Security held a conference on the work related to foreigners in Vietnam, chaired by Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security. According to the Ministry of Public Security, despite the slow global recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent military conflicts, Vietnam still welcomed over 14.1 million international visitors in the first 10 months of 2024, a 41.3% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The Party and State have implemented many open policies and guidelines to facilitate the entry and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, promoting socio-economic development and international integration. However, the Ministry of Public Security reported that, taking advantage of the lenient visa policies, the situation of foreigners violating the law is becoming increasingly complex, particularly activities not in accordance with the purpose of entry, leading to many complex issues related to security and public order.

Therefore, this conference was organized to comprehensively and fully evaluate the results of foreign affairs work by police units and localities in the past period, pointing out shortcomings, limitations, causes, and solutions to overcome them, improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign affairs work; and apply digital transformation in foreign affairs work by immigration management forces... At the conference, police units and localities presented papers on foreign affairs management based on an assessment of the situation, causes, and results of implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws, especially the shortcomings and limitations, and proposed solutions and strengthening related police work to improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs work. In the coming period, under the direction of the Ministry of Public Security leadership, the work related to foreigners will continue to achieve many results, creating a clear transformation, high unity in awareness and action, and ensuring close coordination and cooperation throughout the entire force from the central to local levels to effectively carry out this important work.
