According to Colonel Hoang Van Man, Political Commissar of the City Border Guard, the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba is an exemplary, loyal, and pure relationship; a vivid symbol of international solidarity between two nations sharing the ideals of independence, freedom, and the path to socialism.
For nearly 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Cuban people have always stood shoulder to shoulder, offering heartfelt and unwavering support to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause. The image of leader Fidel Castro, the first foreign leader to visit the liberated zone of Quang Tri in 1973, remains a symbol of the close solidarity between the two nations.
Currently, the Cuban people are facing countless difficulties due to the prolonged impact of the pandemic, natural disasters, and a severe economic crisis. The fundraising activities of the City Border Guard not only share the difficulties with the Cuban people but also contribute to enhancing the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, officers and soldiers from agencies and units under the City Border Guard participated in donating. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).
