On the evening of September 25, the Ministry of Education and Training posted a warning about false information about the arrangement and reorganization of the university education system.
The Ministry of Education and Training said it was assigned by the Government to "develop a project to rearrange and reorganize the university education system" and is coordinating with relevant agencies to research and evaluate the current situation before reporting the plan for the Government and Prime Minister to consider and decide.
"The information circulating about the plan to reorganize the university education system is currently incorrect and not provided by the Ministry. The Ministry recommends that people be vigilant and not spread this information," the Ministry of Education and Training informed.
Previously on September 18, speaking at the Higher Education Conference, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that in the near future, higher education will enter a period of arrangement, merger, and streamlining. Accordingly, the facilities may be designated for merger, not selected by the units.
Apart from the public security and military schools decided by the two ministries and the private school group, the country currently has about 140 public universities that will be merged and streamlined. Central schools may merge with local schools, or many central schools merge with each other, many local schools merge with each other...
The Ministry of Education and Training's viewpoint is to overcome the fragmentation, smallness, and lack of development among schools, especially schools that are close to each other in terms of fields. The Ministry's Steering Committee has developed a plan, reported to the Prime Minister, and is waiting for instructions before implementing. The spirit is to arrange for schools to become stronger.
On September 15, the Government also issued the Government's action program to implement Resolution 71 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, requiring the Ministry of Education and Training to develop a project to rearrange and reorganize the system of higher education institutions, to be completed in 2026.
