Ministry of Defense donates 40 billion VND to localities affected by storm No. 3

In the past few days, storm No. 3 has caused enormous damage to people and property of the State and people of the Northern provinces. The Vietnam People's Army has performed well its function as a "working army" carrying out the task of "fighting in peacetime", demonstrating its core role in responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and catastrophes.

Specifically, the Army has organized 458,000 officers and soldiers on duty (including 143,700 officers and soldiers of the regular force and militia); over 5,320 vehicles, special vehicles, ships, boats..., using all drastic measures to participate in responding to and overcoming the consequences.

At the same time, it organized announcements for vehicles operating at sea; called on over 51,000 boats with nearly 220,000 people to safe places; reinforced and protected the dike, handled landslides of 21,297m; organized the evacuation of over 96,000 households with nearly 375,000 people to safe places; rescued 870 people, found 175 bodies and handed them over to the locality. Officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army did not hesitate to face difficulties and hardships, taking the lead in activities to prevent, combat, and overcome the consequences of storm No. 3. Some officers and soldiers were sacrificed or injured while performing their duties.


The Ministry of National Defense supports people affected by storm No. 3, a total amount of 40 billion VND transferred to the Central Relief Mobilization Committee, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

In addition to mobilizing forces, agencies and units of the entire army also supported with money and facilities worth hundreds of billions of VND. Supported people in the damaged areas with hundreds of tons of goods (dry food, instant noodles, drinks, canned meat, milk)... Transported 100 tons of rice provided by the Government , supported the provinces, supported people and local authorities in environmental sanitation, disease prevention; overcame and repaired social security works in the area damaged by storms and floods, restored normal activities after the storm. Timely visited, encouraged and helped families who suffered damage to people and property.

Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support localities and people affected by storm No. 3; the Ministry of National Defense mobilized military enterprises to support people affected by storm No. 3 with a total amount of 40 billion VND transferred to the Central Relief Mobilization Committee.

Based on the level of damage in each locality, the Ministry of National Defense proposed that the Central Relief Mobilization Committee directly allocate to the provinces, specifically: Lao Cai Province 6 billion VND; Yen Bai Province 4 billion VND; 4 provinces: Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, each province 3 billion VND; 5 provinces: Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang; Phu Tho, Bac Kan, Son La, each province is 2 billion VND; 5 provinces: Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Dien Bien, Hai Duong, each province is 1 billion VND; 6 provinces: Bac Ninh, Lai Chau, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, each province is 500 million VND./.
