(NLDO)- Minister Nguyen Kim Son said the keyword for the new school year 2025 is "implementing" many major policies on education and training.

On July 29, in Quang Ninh, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong chaired the 2025 conference of Department of Education and Training Directors.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that the new school year will implement many major policies on education and training.

Speaking at the conference, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that education and training have never received as much attention as they do today.

The Minister stated that the education sector is being assigned many tasks, and is being expected and entrusted with great responsibility. The country is facing a breakthrough, so it is impossible not to develop education and training. Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: "Our challenge is not only to cope with difficulties and poverty, but also to cope with the challenges of development. Our mission is so great that if we cannot develop it, it is a great mistake."

Looking back on a year of implementing activities across the sector, the Minister commented: "The education sector has accomplished many great and difficult tasks." These include continuing to implement the 2018 General Education Program in the remaining grades; completing the organization of the High School Graduation Exam under much pressure in the new context; issuing and implementing Circular 29 on the management of extra teaching and learning at all levels...

Referring to changes in leadership personnel of the Department of Education and Training when reorganizing the apparatus and operating the two-level local government, according to the Minister, at this time, it is necessary to do a good job of "managing change".

Minister Nguyen Kim Son and Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong chaired the 2025 Department of Education and Training Directors' Conference.

If this is not done well, it will greatly affect the work being carried out by the education sector. "We do education as a model for the whole society. Therefore, in this context, we need to unite, share, be sincere and wholehearted with each other" - the Minister emphasized.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son noted that the commune-level system is starting a new model, which is the operational foundation level. Therefore, the team of civil servants managing state education and training at the commune level needs to be supported, cared for, and paid attention to in the coming time.

The Minister also noted that next September, the education sector will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training), and sectors and departments will organize activities with a spirit of thrift, simplicity but effectiveness for the entire sector. This is also the time to organize the opening ceremony of the new school year. The Minister said that in the new context, it needs to be organized effectively and meaningfully.

"The opening of the new school year is also the opening of a new era for education. This is also the time to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the education sector. That affirms that we are not standing outside, not on the edge, but inside, which is the goal of national development" - the Minister emphasized.

Affirming that the keyword for this new school year is "implementing" many major policies on education and training, Minister Nguyen Kim Son noted that during the implementation process, localities should try to limit confusion, and if there are any problems, they should work together to clear them up. "I am sure that this will be a busy but positive year with lots of joy," the Minister expressed.

There are still 6,477 classrooms borrowed or borrowed.

Reporting at the conference, Director of the Department of Planning and Finance Tran Thanh Dam said that the country has 618,284 public preschool and general education classrooms; of which, 554,142 are solid classrooms, reaching a solidification rate of 89.6%.

Regarding classrooms at the primary level, they are basically enough to ensure teaching 2 sessions/day. The rate of classrooms that are solidly built after 10 years increased from 78.2% in 2015 to 87.1% in 2025. Facilities such as libraries, subject classrooms, offices, teachers' houses, dining halls, boarding houses, toilets, clean water, teaching equipment, etc. have also received investment attention.

In addition, there is still a shortage of classrooms in densely populated areas, mountainous areas, remote areas, and areas with special difficulties. According to local reports, at the preschool level, there is a shortage of about 27,953 classrooms and at the primary level, there is a shortage of about 7,491 classrooms to meet the ratio of 1 class/room, meeting the requirement of studying 2 sessions/day, not to mention the number of classes and classrooms to ensure the number of students/class according to regulations.

In areas with particularly difficult economic conditions, there are still 6,477 borrowed classrooms, mainly concentrated at preschool and primary levels.
