Nurturing awareness and action in digital transformation

Digital transformation is no longer a story of the future but has been taking place strongly all over the world in many different forms and levels. For Vietnam, the promulgation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo dated December 22, 2024 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation has demonstrated the strong political determination of our Party and State. In that context, the book "How to transform digitally?" (Information and Communication Publishing House, 2023) by Professor Ho Tu Bao and Dr. Nguyen Nhat Quang is a prestigious sign of theory and practice, helping readers understand correctly and have specific and creative ways of doing things in the journey into the digital age. The book won the B prize of the 6th National Book Award, 2023.

In the past, we have heard a lot about the question "What is digital transformation" and "Why do we have to do it?", but now the bigger challenge lies in the next part of the story with answering specific questions such as: How to do digital transformation? Where to start? Who is doing it? How to do it effectively and sustainably? From that gap in awareness, the book "How to do digital transformation?" was born and is considered a dedicated, serious, valuable work, timely supplementing the awareness and actions of readers about digital transformation.

The book “How to transform digitally?” is structured into 6 chapters, systematically deploying from theory to practice on digital transformation activities. Chapter 1 of the book presents basic concepts and fundamental issues of digital transformation, helping readers grasp the true nature and role of digital transformation in modern life. Chapter 2 delves into the methodology with a central axis of systematic thinking, tight structure, orientation and high applicability in socio-physical-digital systems. The remaining four chapters analyze the process of implementing digital transformation at different levels: from national scope, economic and social fields, to localities and enterprises.

One of the highlights that makes the book “How to transform digitally?” so appealing is the way the authors convey theoretical knowledge and practical experience through vivid, visual stories. It can be the picture “The boatmen on the Volga River”, a symbol of backwardness before the wave of industrialization, to the story of the envoy Pham Phu Thu going to the West and proposing to modernize the country with scientific knowledge but not accepted by the Nguyen Dynasty. Or the famous Britannica company with its long-standing encyclopedia, successfully transforming itself thanks to its steadfast core values when entering the digital environment, to the strong rise of large technology corporations based on modern digital technology, where 8 out of the 10 richest people in the world today are leading...

The above examples are not only stories of awareness and action but also the premise for the author to lead readers into many ideas of strong change in the fields of education, health, services, manufacturing, agriculture ... so as not to fall behind in a world that is constantly moving thanks to digital transformation.

With concise, clear content and close connection with reality, the book "How to transform digitally?" contributes to raising awareness, supporting thinking and action for the community about digital transformation quite specifically and feasible. Therefore, the book not only has academic value but also is a practical guideline for readers when entering the digital age.
