It can be said that this is Thailand's least convincing performance in the past few years. Therefore, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has every chance to make history.
In fact, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team had moments of sublime play.
In set 1, they started well to lead 8-4. Even though Thailand later equalized to 9-9, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still maintained their focus.
In addition to Bich Tuyen, the middle blockers such as Bich Thuy and Nguyen Thi Trinh did a good job of sharing the blame in scoring. The blockers also performed well in this set, successfully neutralizing the opponents' attacks.
Vietnam had a dream start when they won 25-23. But in the second set, Thailand played much better.
Attackers like Ajcharaporn, Warisara, and especially opposite Pimpichaya knew how to attack the weak points of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, while keeping Bich Tuyen in check and winning 25-19 in this set.
In set 3, the Vietnamese girls regained their form. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's reasonable adjustments were also timely to help the team win 25-21.
But with the class of the "big sister" of Southeast Asia, Thailand still knew how to stand up. They won set 4 with a score of 25-17 to bring the match into set 5.
There were no more surprises. Thailand continued to take advantage of their strengths to win 15-11, thereby winning the final 3-2.
This result also helped the home team win the first round of SEA V.League 2025, something they have done continuously since the tournament's inception.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team could not seize the opportunity to overthrow Thailand's dominance.
