Marco Rose will face a new challenge in the Premier League. |
AFC Bournemouth has shown rapid preparation for the transition period by officially announcing Marco Rose as their head coach for the 2026/27 season.
The decision comes just six days after the Vitality Stadium club confirmed Andoni Iraola will leave when his current contract expires at the end of this season. The Spanish manager refused to renew his contract in order to seek new challenges.
Marco Rose has signed a three-year contract and will begin work after the current season concludes.
In their official announcement, Bournemouth emphasized that Rose possesses extensive experience at the highest level of European football. The 49-year-old coach has previously managed Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig.
Rose's name became widely known after his successful stint at Salzburg, where he helped the team win two consecutive Austrian league titles. He was also the former coach of rising stars like Erling Haaland and Dominik Szoboszlai. He then went on to make his mark in the Bundesliga before winning the German Cup and the German Super Cup with Leipzig.
For Bournemouth, this is a choice that clearly shows ambition. The team is having a positive season, maintaining a 13-match unbeaten streak and competing for European cup qualification.
Meanwhile, Iraola departed after a period of significant improvement for Bournemouth. He helped the team achieve 12th and then 9th place finishes in the Premier League, while also building an energetic and well-organized style of play.
The Spanish coach is currently being linked with several big clubs such as Crystal Palace, Athletic Bilbao, and even Manchester United.
