BINH DUONG
Since their surprising win over Liverpool to start their escape from the relegation zone, Bournemouth are now sitting comfortably in 14th place out of 20 in the Premier League (EPL). Behind the spectacular transformation of the team nicknamed “The Cherries” is the duo Dominic Solanke and Marcus Tavernier.

At Bournemouth, striker Solanke and midfielder Tavernier have contributed a combined 11 goals and 10 assists for their team, and both are proving their doubters wrong.
Despite Bournemouth spending the second least among the EPL teams in the summer transfer market in 2022, the team from the South Coast of England currently has 36 points after 33 matches. Bournemouth is 7 points above the relegation zone while the team still has 5 matches left to play. The most impressive of Bournemouth's recent victories are the victories over Liverpool in round 26 and Tottenham in April. In the victory over Tottenham, Solanke contributed 1 goal and 2 "assists", many times causing trouble for the home team's defenders. Solanke has 7 assists in the EPL this season, the most within Bournemouth (second is Tavernier). Only teammate Philip Billing has surpassed the scoring record of Solanke and Tavernier (both 5 goals). This is a huge contribution from Solanke when knowing that in the past 3 seasons combined, the former Chelsea player has only participated in 7
goal.
Meanwhile, the goal that sealed the 1-0 win over Southampton was Tavernier's eighth goal involvement in his last seven starts. The secret to Tavernier's success has been his versatility, with the 24-year-old midfielder able to play a number of roles as Gary O'Neil has tweaked his system throughout the season. In recent weeks, the position he has needed to fill has been at right-back. It was from this position that Tavernier, in one of his runs, took the ball into the box and finished Southampton off with a left-footed shot. As a result, Bournemouth have won three consecutive away games in the EPL for the first time.
Tavernier would have been even better had he not been plagued by injuries since the 2022 World Cup. The former England Under-20 international believes the mid-season break has robbed him of the best form of his career. However, that hasn't stopped Tavernier from scoring some memorable goals in April, including a curling effort from outside the box against Fulham. Bournemouth need just one more win to almost guarantee their place in the world's most exciting tournament.
