Seedling nursery to serve the expansion of large timber forest planting area at Lang Chanh Forest Management Board.
Join us to visit the large timber plantation model in Linh Son, Dong Luong, Giao An communes... Mr. Le Xuan Diep, Director of Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board said: The Board is assigned to manage, protect and organize production and business on an area of 10,292.14 hectares of forest, including 8,343.25 hectares of natural forest. Most of the protective forest area in remote communes is mainly high hills and mountains, fragmented terrain, degraded roads... causing difficulties for forest protection and development (BV&PTR).
The Board has implemented proactive solutions to effectively develop forests, increase income for forest owners, and contribute to sustainable forest protection and development. Notably, the unit has planted production forests in the direction of intensive cultivation of large timber forests, using basal fertilizers and top dressing for plants during the care period. More than 1,800 hectares of newly planted forests from previous years, mainly planted trees such as acacia, bamboo, and fat, have grown and developed well and have been exploited. From 2017 to 2022, 824 hectares of large timber forests have been newly planted in communes. In recent years, the unit has always exceeded the plan for organizing forest planting, and the quality of planted forests has been improved.
Along with that, Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board has directed the subordinate forest protection stations located in the communes to regularly stay close to the area to direct and organize forest protection and development; coordinate with local authorities, local forest rangers, and villages to organize propaganda on the Forestry Law, provide technical guidance, and supply quality seedlings to households planting new production forests in the direction of intensive farming such as planting high-quality forestry seedlings (acacia tissue, acacia cuttings)... The movement of planting large timber forests is being encouraged, opening up opportunities to bring planted forest wood in Lang Chanh to the international market, with value increasing from 1.5 to 2 times compared to short-term exploited wood. On average, each hectare of large timber forest after 8 to 10 years brings an income of 200 to 300 million VND, many times higher than growing agricultural crops.
Currently, Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board is proactively implementing many solutions to socialize sustainable forest protection and development. Notably, it is necessary to develop plans and map land use planning associated with planning of 3 types of forests. Land and forest types are managed and used for the right purposes, in accordance with the forestry development planning of the industry, locality and current legal regulations. Adjusted land planning for production forests has created conditions for Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board to proactively organize production, facilitating the mobilization of resources from contracted households who are local people for forest protection and development.
Lang Chanh Forest Management Board has also completed 100% of the assignment (long-term stable assignment; assignment of work and services) of forest area and forest land according to Decree 168/2016/ND-CP of the Government to 19 village and hamlet communities and nearly 500 households and individuals to protect, plant and care for forests. Provide technical guidance and organize households to plant new production forests in the direction of sustainable intensive cultivation; safely protect the assigned forest area for management, protection, care and exploitation of planted forests that have produced products.
Thanks to actively participating in planting and protecting forests, local people have more jobs on the spot, income from labor and forest products has contributed to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and improving life. Typically, Mrs. Le Thi Thoa's household, Mr. Le Van Hien's household (Linh Son commune), Mr. Ha Van Uom's household (Dong Luong commune), Mr. Le Van Chuan's household, Vi Thanh Phuong's household (Giao An commune)... have contracted forests and forestry land, have built comprehensive farms, planted production forests for high economic value.
With the efforts of Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board, 10,292.14 hectares of forest under the management of Lang Chanh Forest Protection Board are well protected, forest security is stable, forest coverage reaches 99.09%. The current status of management and use of forestry land in the management unit does not have any disputes, land use for wrong purposes, and there is no situation of forest use against planning.
Reality shows that the sustainable forestry development model at Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board has proactively implemented most stages of forestry economic development from seedling production to forest planting, care, exploitation, processing, and consumption of products from planted forests. This process creates initiative throughout the production process of Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board. With creative and effective methods, Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board is becoming a bright spot in the management, protection and development of forests in Thanh Hoa, contributing to the goal of developing a green economy and adapting to climate change.
