Cunha is in the process of adapting at MU. |
Bruno Fernandes defended Cunha after the 2-1 victory.
Despite not having scored for MU yet, new signing Matheus Cunha has already made a good impression on manager Ruben Amorim and his teammates.
On the morning of July 27th, the Brazilian newcomer did not score in MU's 2-1 victory over West Ham. Both goals for the "Red Devils" were scored by Bruno Fernandes, including a penalty.
Playing as an attacking midfielder alongside Bruno, Cunha moved around a lot but failed to make a significant impact on the attack during the 70 minutes, apart from a shot on target early in the first half.
However, in his post-match press conference, Bruno Fernandes still praised Cunha. The Portuguese star said: "We know most Brazilian players are very loud and cheerful. Cunha is a very funny guy. He integrates very quickly with everyone. We need Cunha to be at his best and to create this connection with all the players to maximize his potential and that of the team."
Meanwhile, coach Amorim believes Cunha possesses qualities that MU currently lacks. "Cunha will be a great help to the team because he has excellent dribbling skills. We lacked players like him last season. Cunha is a good player who can play in many positions. Last season, he didn't play within the same system as what MU is building."
Manchester United will play their next match in the US against Bournemouth on July 31st. This could be the debut of new signing Bryan Mbeumo.
