It takes a painter up to 700 hours to complete the manual painting process of a Bugatti Chiron supercar. In addition, it takes a craftsman up to 200 hours to get the first coat of paint on a Bugatti supercar. Because they have to carry out very strict inspection and evaluation processes. Before the first coat of primer is applied, Bugatti experts must inspect each body panel to find even the smallest defects. This entire inspection process is done by hand using specialized machines, very professionally and meticulously. The total time for this inspection stage usually takes up to 100 hours, about more than 4 days.
“Painting a Bugatti supercar requires not only a high level of expertise, but also a commitment and ambition to always meet the highest quality standards,” said Simon Vetterling, Bugatti body paint specialist. “Having to paint on composite panels and then on carbon fiber makes it a big challenge for us to ensure consistent color across all panels.”

Once the pieces are found and marked, the painting process begins. First, the craftsmen apply a clear, colorless coat of paint to the Bugatti supercar. Once the primer coat is complete, the craftsmen sand it to prevent the formation of waves, bumps, or pitting that are not visible to the naked eye. Then, the next coat of color is applied. But right after this step, the craftsmen must continue to use machines and their professional skills to check the coverage and gloss of the paint. If a panel is found to be darker (or lighter) than the others, the entire body must be repainted. Therefore, this step takes the most time for the Bugatti craftsmen, estimated at 390 hours.

Mr. Christophe Piochon added: "Our founder - Ettore Bugatti grew up in an artistic family. Therefore, from the very beginning, every car he created was designed and created as a work of art. To this day, we still preserve and promote those values, to ensure that each car designed and delivered to customers will be the most perfect in terms of aesthetics." The next step is polishing. After the paint layer meets the standards, the panels are polished for 4 days, which takes about 100 hours to ensure that the paint is absolutely perfect. After that, the Bugatti Chiron supercar must also be checked in a specialized light tunnel for 10 hours to find the smallest defects. All of these steps are aimed at creating a perfect paint layer worthy of an expensive super
sports car.
