Bui Vi Hao will miss the rest of the campaign this year with the national teams.

According to Dr. Truong Cong Dung, former doctor of the U20 Vietnam team that participated in the 2017 U20 World Cup, Bui Vi Hao suffered multiple injuries to his right leg, not only a torn ankle ligament but also a fracture of the fibula bone across the knee joint.

Doctor Dung diagnosed that Vi Hao needs about 10 months to recover, so if nothing changes, he will miss all important campaigns of the national teams this year including the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 2025 SEA Games.

Vi Hao was injured during training to prepare for the match between Binh Duong and Ninh Binh in the quarter-finals of the 2024/25 National Cup.

This is a huge loss for U22 Vietnam because Vi Hao is the highest-class striker in the 2003-2005 generation, playing regularly in V.League for Binh Duong and has a certain position in the Vietnam team that wins the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship.

Bui Vi Hao will undergo surgery on April 3 in Ho Chi Minh City. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Truong Cong Dung and is estimated to take about 3 hours.
