Speaking at a meeting with President Putin, Mr. Xi Jinping assessed that the two countries have many common development goals and can cooperate on this basis to realize the goals.
According to the Chinese leader, coordination on the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Beijing and Moscow has contributed to ensuring international fairness and promoting common prosperity and development of both sides.
On the Ukraine issue, China affirmed its willingness to continue playing a constructive role in promoting a political solution, noting that history has shown that conflicts must ultimately be resolved through dialogue and negotiations.
“The voice for peace and reason is being built. Most countries support easing tensions, support peaceful negotiations and oppose adding fuel to the fire,” the Chinese leader stressed.
According to Mr. Xi Jinping, the 12-point document that China has issued clearly shows Beijing's stance "supporting a political solution to the crisis and rejecting the Cold War mentality as well as unilateral sanctions".
For his part, President Putin pointed out that since Xi Jinping visited Russia as President of China 10 years ago, the two sides have taken many steps to help strengthen bilateral relations over time.
According to the Kremlin leader, Russia and China have many common goals and tasks, and relations between the two countries are contributing to the strengthening of a multipolar world.
It is expected that the two sides will have many issues to discuss in the field of economic cooperation.
Regarding the Ukraine issue, expressing his welcome for China's constructive role, Mr. Putin clearly stated: "Russia appreciates China for always maintaining an impartial, objective and balanced stance as well as supporting fairness and justice in major international issues."
According to the Russian President, Moscow has carefully studied Beijing's position on the political solution to the Ukrainian issue and "is always ready for negotiations. We will certainly discuss all these issues, including China's initiatives that we value."
Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Moscow is scheduled to last from March 20 to 22. Russia is the first country that Xi has visited since he was elected as Chinese President for a third consecutive term on March 10.
According to THX , during the visit, President Xi Jinping will have discussions with President Putin on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The purpose of the visit is to promote strategic and substantive cooperation between the two countries, creating new momentum for the development of bilateral relations.
Mr. Yury Ushakov, Assistant to the President of Russia, said that President Putin and President Xi Jinping are expected to have official discussions on March 21 and this meeting will be attended by members of the delegations of both sides.
In addition, Mr. Xi Jinping will meet with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the morning of March 21.
Earlier, speaking to the press upon arriving in Moscow, President Xi Jinping expressed his belief that his visit would achieve good results and create new momentum to help China-Russia relations develop smoothly and stably.
The Chinese leader said that the two countries' relations are entering a new era and Beijing will continue to cooperate with Moscow to protect the international system in which the United Nations plays a central role, in the context of the world undergoing a transition.
