Gemma’s journey to Italy began in 2019, when she enrolled at the Alfredo Casella Conservatory, a school specializing in opera. In less than a year, Gemma achieved a perfect score in the opera exam held by the school.

Sharing the reason for choosing opera as a path to study and develop her art, Gemma Nguyen said: "I love contemporary folk music, but when I went to study abroad, I chose opera to make my voice stronger. Opera is a genre of music that requires complex techniques, symbolizing the pinnacle of vocal art. I want to study so that I can apply this essence to contemporary Vietnamese folk music."
