Vietnamese women's volleyball ready for SEA V.League

After the historic championship at the AVC Nations Cup 2025, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team entered the SEA V.League 2025 with high spirits and determination.

This year's tournament will still take place in 2 stages with the participation of 4 teams: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. The Vietnam Volleyball Federation has announced the list of 14 athletes participating in stage 1 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand (from August 1 to 3), notably the presence of 3 liberos - an unprecedented event for the women's team. This is a tactical calculation of the coaching staff to enhance defense capabilities, in the context of increasingly comprehensive competition from regional opponents.

This year's squad is a combination of experience and youth. Captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy continues to be the team's leader, alongside key players such as main attacker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (Best Player of AVC Nations Cup 2025), middle blocker Nguyen Thi Trinh, opposite setter Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, setter Doan Thi Lam Oanh, libero Nguyen Khanh Dang...

Compared to last year's tournament, the women's team has 4 changes in the lineup, notably the absence of striker Nguyen Thi Phuong - who played quite impressively at the AVC Nations Cup and Shanghai Future Stars. According to coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, this is a tactical decision, as the team wants to diversify their playing style and strengthen their defense from the back.

At SEA V.League 2024, the Vietnamese team finished second in both legs after losing to Thailand. With their current form and the excitement after winning the continental championship, Thanh Thuy and her teammates are facing a great opportunity to break the curse against their great rival. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet affirmed: "We aim to defeat Thailand, preparing well for the conquest of the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games".

The upcoming match schedule of the first round is considered favorable for Vietnam when they will meet Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand in the final round. This is also an opportunity for the coaching staff to test their playing style and adjust their personnel before entering the second round in Ninh Binh - Vietnam (from August 8 to 10), where the home audience expects an explosive performance from the girls in red.

SEA V.League 2025 is not only a warm-up for the SEA Games 33 campaign at the end of the year but also a measure of the team's strength in the goal of reaching the Asian level. With an even force, stable performance and a desire to win, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is ready to continue writing miracles.
