From June 1st, unleaded gasoline in Vietnam will have to undergo a blending process to become E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide. Many gasoline businesses in Vietnam are ready to switch to selling E10 or E5 bio-gasoline, instead of conventional gasoline as before.
Recently, Honda Vietnam, through its official fanpage, emphasized that Honda motorcycles perform well with gasoline that has an octane rating of no less than 91 and an ethanol blending ratio of no more than 10%.
Therefore, Honda motorcycle users can use bioethanol fuels such as E5 RON 92 or E10 RON 95 without worrying about affecting the engine or fuel system.

Honda's announcement doesn't mention the compatibility between biofuels and gasoline engines in cars. However, the Honda CR-V e:HEV owner's manual clearly states that for vehicles imported from Thailand, the suitable fuel is unleaded gasoline or ethanol-blended gasoline up to E20, with an octane rating of 91 or higher.
Similarly, the Toyota Yaris Cross owner's manual also mentions that it can use ethanol-blended gasoline with a maximum ethanol content of 10%, meaning it is compatible with E10 bioethanol fuel. Toyota also notes that the ethanol-blended gasoline must have an octane rating of 90 or higher.

The owner's manuals for several popular gasoline-powered car models mention compatibility with E10 bioethanol fuel. |
In the Hyundai Creta owner's manual, the manufacturer advises customers to use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher. Regarding the use of gasohol – described in the manual as a mixture of gasoline and ethanol – Hyundai recommends that customers avoid using gasohol containing more than 10% ethanol.
Therefore, the Hyundai Creta currently sold in Vietnam is compatible with E5 and E10 bioethanol fuels, which are mixtures of unleaded gasoline with a blend ratio of 5-10% ethanol.
Speaking to Tri Thức - Znews , a representative from a Ford dealership in the southern region also stated that the company has confirmed the compatibility of gasoline-powered cars currently sold in Vietnam with E10 bioethanol fuel.

In general, users can proactively check the compatibility of their vehicle with biofuels by referring to the information provided in the vehicle's owner's manual.
For imported cars or motorcycles, the E10 or E20 labels near the fuel tank cap also indicate compatibility with biofuels.
