Thuy Linh faced a challenge right in round 1.

The recent draw results of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) brought difficulties to Vietnamese tennis players in the events.

Specifically in the women's singles, Thuy Linh (ranked 23rd in the world) will meet her fateful opponent Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand, ranked 10th in the world) right from round 1.

If she overcomes her Thai opponent, Thuy Linh will meet the world's 4th ranked Chinese tennis player - Chen Yu Fei (seed number 4) in the next round.

Thuy Linh has just competed in two important stages of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament in the US and Canada, in which the tennis player born in 1997 won the runner-up position in the women's singles tournament in Canada.

The 2025 World Championship will be an opportunity for Thuy Linh to affirm her name, aiming to conquer bigger milestones, bringing glory to Vietnamese badminton.

Also in the women's singles, Vu Thi Trang will meet the not-so-strong Kantemyr of Ukraine in round 1.

But if she wins, in round 2, Vu Thi Trang will face a challenge named Gao Fang Jie (China, ranked 14th in the world).

Duc Phat is likely to face the world's number 1 tennis player if he wins in round 1.

In the men's singles event, Vietnamese badminton has 2 official slots to participate in the tournament: Nguyen Hai Dang and Le Duc Phat.

These are also the two highest ranked male tennis players in Vietnam at the present time.

In round 1, Hai Dang (ranked 58th in the world) met Alwi Farhan (Indonesia, ranked 23rd in the world), the player who just won the Macau Open 2025.

Meanwhile, Duc Phat (ranked 69th in the world) will meet Belgian tennis player Julien Carraggi (ranked 60th in the world). This is an easy challenge for Duc Phat.

However, if he wins against Julien Carraggi, in round 2, Duc Phat will meet world number 1 player Shi Yu Qi (China).

In men's doubles, Dinh Hoang/Dinh Manh will meet an unknown pair from Brazil in round 1.

If they win, Dinh Hoang/Dinh Manh will meet the pair Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan, the 16th seeds of the tournament from Chinese Taipei.

In the last time the Badminton World Championship was held (2023), the Vietnamese badminton team was only given 2 spots by BWF to participate: Thuy Linh and Hai Dang.

Vietnam's best badminton achievement at the world championship was Nguyen Tien Minh's bronze medal in men's singles in 2013.
