Drinks to help with hangovers, beer, and aid digestion during Tet that many people should know

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên26/01/2025

Tet is the time when people easily consume a lot of foods high in protein, fat, alcohol, beer, etc. Below are drinks recommended by doctors to help sober up and support digestion effectively.

Detoxification of alcohol and beer

After consuming alcoholic beverages, the body often has symptoms such as headache, nausea and fatigue. According to Dr. Chu Thi Dung, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City - Branch 3, to minimize these symptoms and help the body recover quickly, you can use some natural drinks:

Filtered water : Drinking filtered water is the simplest and most effective way to sober up from alcohol and beer. Alcohol in wine and beer reduces the amount of water in the body. Drinking filtered water helps dilute the alcohol concentration in the blood, promoting the process of eliminating toxins through urine and rehydration.

How to do : Drink 1-2 glasses of water immediately after drinking alcohol or beer.

Continue drinking small sips throughout the day to maintain water balance in the body.

You should drink at least 2-3 liters of water every day to maintain water balance and support the body's detoxification process. You should drink warm water instead of cold water to avoid irritating the stomach and making digestion easier. Do not drink more than the above amount of water to avoid water poisoning.

Boil ginger in water for about 5 minutes, then pour into a cup and add honey, stir well. Drink while still warm for best results.

Drink 1-2 cups of fresh ginger water about 1 hour apart to reduce uncomfortable symptoms.

Tomato juice : Tomatoes contain vitamin C and glutathione, which help protect the liver and aid in detoxification, reducing the harmful effects of alcohol on the body. Vitamin C in tomatoes also helps boost the immune system and reduce nausea after drinking alcohol.

How to make : 2 ripe tomatoes, can add 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Wash tomatoes, squeeze or puree and filter through a sieve. Add salt and stir well. Drink immediately after preparation to retain maximum nutrients.

Drink 1 glass (250 ml) immediately after drinking alcohol. You can drink another glass after about 2 hours to continue detoxifying your body.

Fresh coconut water : Fresh coconut water contains natural electrolytes such as potassium and sodium, which help the body rehydrate, balance electrolytes and reduce fatigue caused by alcohol, supporting the rapid recovery of lost minerals in the body.

How to do: Drink 1 coconut (about 300-400 ml) immediately after drinking alcohol. Note that you should not drink more than 2 coconuts/day to avoid affecting the kidneys.

Reduce blood fat, improve digestive function

During Tet, consuming foods rich in protein, oil and fat can easily lead to digestive problems such as bloating, indigestion, and fatigue. To aid digestion and help the body detoxify, Dr. Dung recommends the following drinks:

Honey lemon water : Honey lemon water not only helps purify the body but also helps improve the digestive system. Vitamin C in lemon helps enhance liver function, supports detoxification, while honey has anti-inflammatory properties and soothes the stomach.

How to make : 1/2 fresh lemon, 1 teaspoon honey, 300 ml warm water.

Mix lemon juice and honey into warm water, stir well and drink right after meals to help improve digestion and aid detoxification.

Brown rice tea : Brown rice tea helps aid digestion, reduces bloating and detoxifies the liver. Brown rice is rich in fiber, which helps improve bowel function and digestion.

How to make : 50g brown rice, 1 liter of water.

Toast brown rice until fragrant, then boil with water for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink while warm.

You should drink 1-2 cups of brown rice tea every day, especially after fatty meals.

Celery smoothie : Celery is a food rich in antioxidants, helps purify the body, reduces bad cholesterol and supports blood fat reduction.

How to make : 200g celery, 1/2 green apple, 1/2 lemon.

Wash the celery and apple, puree the ingredients together and strain through a sieve. Drink immediately after mixing to maximize the nutrients.

According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), the maximum amount of beer and alcohol consumed each day should not exceed:

Men: No more than 2 units of alcohol per day (equivalent to 330 ml of 5% beer, 100 ml of wine or 30 ml of spirits).

Women: No more than 1 unit of alcohol per day.

“Alcohol consumption needs to be controlled. People with underlying diseases such as liver, kidney, cardiovascular or high blood pressure should limit alcohol consumption as much as possible, or it is best to consult a doctor before deciding to use it,” Dr. Chu Thi Dung emphasized.
