Good practices in temporary housing demolition

The new house of Ms. Do Thi Thin's family in zone 15, Cao Xa commune, Lam Thao district.

Through screening, in 2025, Lam Thao district has 105 households requesting support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, of which 56 are poor and near-poor households; 28 are meritorious people and 21 are other subjects. In addition to support sources from higher levels, the district has focused resources and done well in socialization work to provide maximum support for subjects to build houses, ensuring that newly built and repaired houses meet the criteria of spaciousness and sustainability. Comrade Nguyen Manh Toan - Chairman of the Fatherland Front of Lam Thao district said: To effectively eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, we must rely on the people's strength. In addition to state support, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the district has actively promoted and mobilized member organizations and people to promote the spirit of solidarity, help each other with working days and materials, and at the same time called for socialized resources to have more funds to support households in building and repairing houses to ensure efficiency and synchronization, contributing to improving the lives of the disadvantaged...

One of the good ways of Lam Thao district is to flexibly apply the policy of "State support - People work together". Accordingly, in addition to the support of 60 million VND/household for building new houses, 30 million VND/household for repairing, the district Fatherland Front also sent an open letter to organizations, units, businesses, and philanthropists to join hands to support more resources, at the same time, each household proactively sources support from relatives, relatives, and the community. For households with special difficulties, the grassroots level will establish groups and teams from the youth force, veterans, and military to participate in donating materials and labor days to help families build new houses.

Thanks to the drastic and synchronous participation, up to now, Lam Thao district has started construction and handed over 51 houses, reaching 50% of the plan. The remaining temporary and dilapidated houses are being actively built, striving to complete in May 2025. The new houses all ensure the "three hard" criteria: hard foundation, hard frame - wall, hard roof, minimum area of 50m2 or more, meeting the essential living needs of the people.

After nearly 2 months of construction, the house of Ms. Do Thi Thin's family in Zone 15, Cao Xa Commune has an area of over 67m2, with a total construction cost of over 270 million VND. Of which, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses of the province and district supported 80 million VND; the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses and the Red Cross of Cao Xa Commune supported 13 million VND; Vietcombank - Vinh Phuc branch supported 70 million VND; Pho Noi Textile and Garment Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company - Vietnam Textile and Garment Group supported 50 million VND; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huyen's family, Zone 3 supported 50 million VND; Noi Thanh Joint Stock Company supported 10,000 bricks and transportation costs worth 12 million VND; TASA GROUP Joint Stock Company supported 80m2 of floor tiles worth 10 million VND along with household items...

Not only supporting construction funds, the grassroots Fatherland Front also supports families in designing and instructing them on how to build houses suitable to their actual conditions; consulting on choosing durable, low-cost materials available locally. The commune Fatherland Front connects with units, businesses, and philanthropists who are children of the homeland and have the conditions to support resources and construction materials for families...

With creative and practical approaches, Lam Thao district is gradually completing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction and improving the quality of life for people.
