According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh, former lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, wild honey is very good for health and has antibiotic properties that help treat some diseases. However, finding wild honey is quite difficult; most of the honey is farmed honey of good quality. Recently, there has been a problem of counterfeit honey, causing concern among consumers.
In terms of health, fake honey isn't overly harmful because it's mostly made from sugar. However, excessive consumption of fake honey can lead to digestive imbalances or an increased risk of obesity. This is especially detrimental to the health of people with diabetes who consume a lot of fake honey.

You can use the following method to distinguish between real and fake honey. Prepare a glass of filtered water, dip a straw into the honey you want to test, then slowly drop a drop of honey into the water. Real honey will slowly sink to the bottom without dissolving, while fake honey will gradually dissolve and disappear.
Note that for accuracy during the testing process, you should prepare a tall glass for easy observation. When using a dropper to collect the honey, take small drops because large drops will not dissolve quickly enough.
Glass containers are considered the safest for storing and preserving honey. They are sturdy, colorless, odorless, and, most importantly, do not alter the properties of the honey no matter how long it is stored. Additionally, tightly sealed containers minimize contact between the honey and air, preserving its flavor and color for longer.
To choose quality honey, consumers should first buy from reputable and trustworthy sources. In addition, to be sure of the honey's quality, buyers can check the product's smell and taste. Genuine honey has a very fragrant and thick consistency, with a slightly pungent taste; these characteristics are difficult to detect in impure honey.
