Camera footage shows a Hoi An-style chicken rice restaurant owner pointing his finger, causing a customer to throw a plate on the floor.

The owner of An Hien chicken rice restaurant aggressively pointed his finger and cursed at customers.

On the morning of June 14th, Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An City, stated that they are still awaiting the results of the investigation and verification regarding the incident a few days prior where the owner of An Hien chicken rice restaurant verbally abused a female tourist.

In the minutes of the meeting with Son Phong ward, Ms. Truong Thi Thu Hien - owner of An Hien chicken rice restaurant (Ly Thuong Kiet street) - explained that the customers had called to order meals for the group earlier. However, her husband answered the phone and did not inform her, so she was unaware of the order.

When customers arrived for the meal, there was an argument between the two sides. Ms. Hien said it was just a misunderstanding, and she learned from the experience in her speech and behavior.

Chairman of Son Phong ward, Luong Hong Linh, stated that Ms. Hien's behavior and use of vulgar language were not in line with the spirit of Hoi An, a tourist city known for its "kind and hospitable" people. Therefore, she needs to learn a profound lesson in how to behave and speak to tourists.

To clarify the situation, Son Phong ward requested Ms. Hien to provide a security camera clip. The more than two-minute video that Ms. Hien sent to the authorities shows the female tourist entering the chicken rice restaurant and sitting at a table waiting.

Ms. Hien and the server exchanged some words, but the female tourist did not give her consent.

The two sides exchanged heated words, then the customer sitting at the table stood up, threw the plate on the table to the ground, and pointed his finger in the direction Mrs. Hien was standing, chopping chicken. The argument continued.

In a video clip posted online at the same time, Ms. Hien is seen cursing and pointing her finger directly at the female tourist's face. The tourist then leaves.

Facebook user Quynh Anh Pham posted a clip showing the owner of An Hien restaurant arguing with a customer.

The matter will be clarified and dealt with severely.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of June 14, the leaders of Hoi An city said that the incident occurred due to Ms. Hien's inappropriate behavior.

Ms. Hien also admitted her mistake and said that she would not let it happen again, as it would affect efforts to build a positive image for Hoi An.

However, to clarify the situation, the leaders of Hoi An City requested Son Phong ward to thoroughly verify the information with all parties involved; extract camera footage, interview witnesses, and try to contact the female tourist who was verbally abused by Ms. Hien for verification.

"The city does not tolerate such unsightly behavior. Once the verification results are clear, we will take appropriate action depending on the severity, in order to protect the image of Hoi An tourism," said a leader of Hoi An city.
