In order to ensure the goal of comprehensive development that leaves no one behind, the new support system applies to all women in low-income insurance card-holding families; female workers who are members of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF); female civil servants, contract workers and interns.

This new regulation is expected to continue to address malnutrition in children from conception to the first 1,000 days of life to promote the physical and mental development of young children.

According to the press release, in order to continue supporting pregnant women and young children, and to stimulate Cambodia's human resource development in line with the national social protection policy, the government has decided to increase the level of support and provide more support to women.

People with poor household cards, female workers who are members of the NSSF, female civil servants, public employees, interns and contract workers are eligible to apply this regulation at public health facilities from pregnancy until the child is 2 years old.

The plan aims to encourage pregnant women and new mothers to receive counseling to give birth to children according to appropriate health standards at public health facilities, as well as improve child nutrition.

According to Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, pregnant women on the above list are entitled to four allowances of 80,000 Riel per person (about 20 USD per person) before giving birth. During the time of giving birth, they are entitled to an allowance of 400,000 Riel (about 100 USD) and this amount will be multiplied accordingly if they give birth to more than one child.

After giving birth, mothers and children are entitled to 10 additional allowances, each worth 80,000 Riel, of which 3 are received when they have a health check-up after giving birth, and 7 are received when taking their children for vaccinations.

The new regulations will be applied from August 1.
