Hoang Gia Bridge (also known as May Chai Bridge) across the Cam River ( Hai Phong City) is completing the final stages and is expected to open to traffic on July 15. Hoang Gia Bridge started construction in September 2023 and is the 6th bridge across the Cam River in Hai Phong.
The Royal Bridge was invested by Vingroup Corporation with a length of nearly 2.2 km, a total capital of more than 2,300 billion VND, of which the main bridge is 21 m wide with 4 lanes, and the two approach bridges are 17.5 m wide. On March 15, the bridge was closed.
The starting point of the bridge is located on Vu Yen Island, connecting to the main axis of Vinhomes Royal Island project and leading straight to Vu Yen Park walking street. The end point of the bridge intersects with Le Thanh Tong Street, at Cau Tre Bridge area, Ngo Quyen Ward.
The Royal Bridge spans the Cam River - an important international gateway, welcoming international freight and passenger trains to and from Hai Phong City. The bridge is designed according to the concept of " World Gateway Bridge", with 2 towers leaning towards the river, creating a curved shape like a welcome gate, symbolizing international welcome to Vietnam and sending Vietnamese trains and passengers to the world.
Looking horizontally at the bridge, the shape of each bridge tower is designed with inspiration from the image of a bird's wings, expressing the desire to fly high.
The space in the middle of the circular driveway is designed as a parking lot and electric vehicle charging station.
Construction items of the Royal Bridge project are basically completed.
The approach road and bridge surface have been asphalted and painted. The investor installed yellow painted railings with an aesthetic curved design. Each end of the railing is equipped with decorative lights with a white-red outer shell.
Groups of workers are completing the final items, preparing for technical traffic opening on July 15.
When put into operation, the Royal Bridge will help shorten the travel time from Vinhomes Royal Island to the city center to only about 5 minutes, becoming one of the new symbols for the development of Hai Phong's infrastructure and socio-economy.
Along with the opening of the Royal Bridge, Hai Phong also plans to build an ecological park system, sports and service areas, housing and multi-purpose buildings in the area south of the Cam River, close to the foot of the Royal Bridge, to create a highlight for the development of regional infrastructure.
