Considerations when choosing a method for evaluating academic transcripts in 2025.

Báo Đại Đoàn KếtBáo Đại Đoàn Kết23/03/2025

It is expected that the competition rate for admission through the academic transcript review method will increase this year. Therefore, candidates and parents should carefully consider and research the admission information of schools when choosing this method of admission.

Using the academic results for the entire 12th grade year for admission consideration.

According to the regulations for university and college admissions for early childhood education programs, early admissions will no longer be considered for the 2025 university entrance exam.

Explaining this regulation, the Ministry of Education and Training stated that, in reality, the application of early admissions in recent years has resulted in a prolonged admissions period, requiring candidates to obtain confirmation of their high school academic results from multiple educational institutions, leading to a waste of social resources. Many educational institutions have announced a large number of early admissions but very few students actually enroll, indicating that early admissions are ineffective.

Furthermore, when educational institutions use academic results from 1 to 5 semesters of high school for early admissions, instead of the results of the entire 12th grade (second semester), it negatively impacts students' learning process and high school graduation exams, thereby affecting their academic ability at the university level.

Therefore, to ensure that students are equipped with the necessary foundational knowledge to pursue university studies, the regulations stipulate that early admission will no longer be considered starting this year.

Regarding the academic transcript-based admission method, candidates should note that the new regulations stipulate that when using high school academic results for admission, only the results of the entire 12th grade year must be used. Furthermore, to ensure that the contribution of the 12th grade year's academic results is not too low in the admission score calculation, the regulations stipulate that the weighting of the 12th grade year results must not be less than 25%.

Adjusting the admission plan

According to the admission plans announced by universities so far, many schools are still considering academic transcripts for admission. However, candidates should also note that this year, universities have made some adjustments to quotas and combined conditions when considering academic transcripts for admission.

The University of Education 2 has just announced its 2025 admissions plan with 10 admission methods. These include admission methods based on high school academic results (transcript review); and admission methods combining high school academic results with aptitude test scores.

With the academic transcript-based admission method, the school calculates the academic scores from the first and second semesters of 12th grade. The school stated that it will select candidates based on the principle of highest scores downwards until all quotas for the chosen major are filled. Admission scores will be rounded to two decimal places. If multiple candidates have the same admission score, a supplementary criterion will be used, considering the order of preferences from highest to lowest, with preference 1 being the highest priority.

In 2025, the Vietnam Women's Academy will offer 12 training programs. In addition to traditional admission methods, this year the academy will also consider the results of the aptitude test administered by Hanoi Pedagogical University.

For candidates choosing the academic transcript-based admission method this year, Dr. Nguyen Phi Long, Head of Training Department - Vietnam Women's Academy, advises that candidates need to research the quotas, timeframes, and number of semesters for admission consideration in the admission plans of each school.

In 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training requires the evaluation of academic results from 6 semesters of high school. Therefore, when choosing this admission method, students should compare their academic transcript results with other admission methods to consider and select the method with the greatest advantage.

Mr. Long also believes that, with the new regulations this year, the admission scores based on academic transcripts are expected to increase because the number of places available for this method is lower than in previous years.

"Therefore, candidates and parents should carefully consider and research the admission information of the schools when choosing this admission method," Mr. Long noted.

To ensure equal opportunities for admission for students from different regions, the Ministry of Education and Training announced that the regulations for university and college admissions in the Early Childhood Education major have removed the requirement that each major or program have a maximum of 4 admission combinations; there is no limit on the number of admission combinations.

However, to ensure the quality and necessary knowledge foundation for university studies, the regulations stipulate that the subject combination used for admission must include at least 3 suitable subjects, of which Mathematics or Literature must have a weighting of at least 25% in the admission score.

From 2026 onwards, the number of common subjects in each subject combination must contribute at least 50% of the total score for admission consideration.
