As Thanh Nien reported, more than 30 individual business households and enterprises along National Highway 60 (in Thanh Son 3 Hamlet, Thanh Tan Commune, Mo Cay Bac District, Ben Tre ) are worried that the construction unit of the project (DA) "Residential road from Ham Luong Bridge to Thanh Tan roundabout" will install guardrails separating the main route of National Highway 60 from the project, which will make business and trade difficult. Because of this concern, some households have even prevented the construction of guardrails in the Ham Luong Bridge area.
Meanwhile, the leader of Ben Tre Department of Transport confirmed the guardrail. Talking to Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Cao Minh Duc, Director of Ben Tre Department of Transport, confirmed that the project of installing guardrails separating the residential road and National Highway 60, from Ham Luong Bridge to Thanh Tan roundabout, is mandatory. This is an important project because it aims to ensure traffic safety between vehicles moving onto National Highway 60.
According to the authorities of Ben Tre province, the fact that passersby stop their vehicles and buy goods displayed right on the slope of Ham Luong bridge like this can easily lead to traffic safety risks.
Mr. Cao Minh Duc further explained that after 13 years of Ham Luong bridge being put into operation, residents have concentrated their living and trading activities on both sides of National Highway 60. Trading for visitors has led to indiscriminate parking, causing complicated traffic situations during rush hour, holidays and Tet. Meanwhile, the DA05 route connecting to this area is about to be completed; a large-scale tourist wharf on the Ham Luong river bank is also being invested in... Therefore, in the coming time, the number of vehicles moving from the Ham Luong bridge area to National Highway 60 will be very large.
For the common good
Responding to the information about the "guardrail story", many readers commented that concentrating on trading and living along the roads has been a habit of many communities. "However, it is time for this habit to change accordingly", said Minh Nghia.
Agreeing, Mr. Truong Luu further analyzed: "In the situation where the expressways are being developed deep into the localities, but suddenly people also want to open guardrails for business and trading, what should we do?". Mr. Thuy Nhan reminded: "Many traffic accidents have occurred when trading narrows the road surface, and passenger cars stop and park suddenly."
Regarding the story of "guardrails in Ham Luong bridge area", in fact, after the people requested, Mo Cay Bac District asked for the opinion of Ben Tre Department of Transport to consider removing the guardrails, but Ben Tre Department of Transport affirmed that installing guardrails at this project is very necessary to ensure traffic safety and comply with legal regulations. BĐ tinh nguyen commented: "Because safety is more important and necessary. Don't forget the common interest for small immediate benefits, and react unreasonably to the authorities".
Convince the people
Most of the BĐ think that the immediate solution is for the local government to continue to propagate and persuade the people, and at the same time find ways to harmonize interests. BĐ Trang proposed the following plan: "Can we treat it like the way we organize rest stops on the highway? The locality will plan a separate area nearby, with a separate entrance, so that people can continue to do business and trade as before."
Sharing this opinion, BĐ Quân noted: "I see that in many places, rest stops have appeared along the roads, both to gather the trade of local products in one place and not cause traffic safety problems."
BD Nguyen Hoang stated: "The government should continue to explain the law and regulations on road traffic safety, mobilize and propagate for people to comply to ensure the common good, not just for the benefit of a few individuals but affecting the development of a region. We hope to have roads and more modern traffic infrastructure, so let's join hands to develop the locality and region."
Traffic safety must come first!
Thanh Tam
For the common good, ensuring traffic safety, protecting the lives of many people, but also not forgetting the desire of the people to trade and do business. If possible, we should find a solution that is mutually satisfactory.
