Attending and giving a directive speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Soc Trang 4 wind power plant project in Vinh Chau ward, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, emphasized that this is an important milestone in the city's development process, contributing to concretizing strategic goals on energy transition, green growth, and sustainable economic development.

According to the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, Can Tho has been approved for 56 power generation projects with a total capacity of 9,154 MW, including 30 wind power projects with a total capacity of approximately 2,785 MW. To date, the city has granted investment approval for 20 wind power projects with a total capacity of 1,428 MW; of which 9 projects are in commercial operation with a total capacity of 396 MW, 3 projects are under construction with a capacity of 142 MW, 8 projects are completing investment procedures with a capacity of 890 MW, and 10 projects are in the investor selection phase with a total capacity of 1,357 MW.

During this series of events, two large-scale wind power projects were launched with a total investment of over VND 23,640 billion, including: Phu Cuong 1A and 1B Wind Power Plant Cluster (220kV substation) invested by Phu Cuong Wind Power Joint Stock Company and Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant invested by Soc Trang 1 Energy Investment Joint Stock Company.

"Upon completion, the projects are expected to supply approximately 1,174 GWh of electricity annually to the national power grid, contributing to supplementing clean energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable energy transition, and creating more jobs, increasing budget revenue, and boosting local socio-economic development," the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City emphasized.

Delegates performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Phu Cuong 1A and 1B Wind Power Plant Cluster project, including the 220 KV Substation, invested by Phu Cuong Wind Power Joint Stock Company, on the morning of May 19th in Can Tho.

To ensure projects are implemented on schedule and maximize investment efficiency, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City requested investors, contractors, and consulting units to demonstrate the highest level of responsibility, organize construction seriously, mobilize maximum resources, apply modern technology, and ensure quality, safety, and efficiency; while also strengthening coordination with relevant agencies to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles during implementation. Departments, agencies, and local authorities are required to strengthen inspection and supervision, proactively support, and create the most favorable conditions for projects to be implemented according to plan. At the same time, city leaders called on the staff, engineers, and workers on the construction site to uphold their responsibility, consider this a crucial political task, and strive for excellence in labor with the determination of "all for the development of Can Tho, all for the lives of the people."

Comrade Truong Canh Tuyen expressed his confidence that, with high political determination, a spirit of solidarity, and efforts to overcome difficulties, the projects will be successfully implemented, making an important contribution to the goal of building Can Tho into an increasingly prosperous, civilized, and modern city, worthy of being the driving force center of the Mekong Delta region.
