Can Tho reviews parking fee collection activities at public hospitals

In order to ensure social security and reduce cost pressure for patients, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Department of Health to review and advise on adjusting the price of parking services at public hospitals in a suitable direction, in accordance with legal regulations, and to study the option of completely free of charge if qualified.

Recently, people have reported on the situation of unusually high parking fees at An Hoa market, Cai Khe ward and some public places in Can Tho city. Recently, the City People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 402/UBND-KT, assigning the Department of Finance, Department of Health and People's Committees of communes and wards to coordinate in comprehensively inspecting parking fee collection activities, and at the same time, study and adjust parking service prices at public hospitals to ensure the rights of people, especially vulnerable groups.

Under the direction of the Chairman of the City People's Committee, the Department of Finance was assigned to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Cai Khe Ward and related units to inspect and review all parking fee collection activities at An Hoa Market, as well as similar markets and public places.

The inspection must be carried out promptly, seriously and responsibly, ensuring that the act of charging fees higher than the state-regulated price is clearly identified, and the responsibilities of related organizations and individuals are clarified.

In case of detecting violations, the units are responsible for strictly handling them in accordance with current legal regulations and publicizing the results so that people can know, monitor and supervise. At the same time, review and advise on adjusting parking service prices at public hospitals in a suitable direction, in accordance with legal regulations.

In case it is not possible to apply free parking across the board, the above units are required to develop a plan to apply the lowest possible parking fee, reasonable with the people's ability to pay, giving priority to free parking for vulnerable groups such as: the poor, people in difficult circumstances, patients with serious illnesses, people with revolutionary contributions, people with disabilities, the elderly, etc.

The development of the plan must be associated with field surveys and consultation with people and hospitals (if necessary) to ensure feasibility and suitability with the aspirations of the whole society.
