Can Tho builds overpasses at 2 central intersections of the city

Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc He has just signed and issued an Official Dispatch to the Director of the Department of Construction and the Director of the Department of Finance on assigning the task of preparing the investment for the project to build an overpass at intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao) and intersection No. 4 (Nguyen Van Linh - 3 Thang 2).

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Department of Construction to carry out the task of preparing investment for the project to build an overpass at intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - Ba Thang Hai - Tran Hung Dao) and intersection No. 4 (Nguyen Van Linh - 3 Thang 2) according to the proposal of the Department of Finance.

Can Tho City People's Committee requests the Department of Construction to be responsible for implementing and carrying out investment preparation procedures for the above project in accordance with current regulations, ensuring savings, efficiency, and avoiding loss and waste.

These are 2 of 5 intersections under the Investment Project to renovate and expand 5 key intersections in Can Tho City, approved in Decision No. 2791/QD-UBND, dated November 23, 2023 of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, with a total investment of 1,196 billion VND, from the state budget.

The project investment objective is to expand and build intersections within the project to meet current and future traffic flow requirements, reduce traffic congestion; build modern intersections, contribute to improving urban aesthetics; gradually complete the city's traffic network and technical infrastructure according to the approved plan, contributing to the socio -economic development of Ninh Kieu district in particular and Can Tho city in general.

Five intersections to be renovated and expanded include: Intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao Street); Intersection No. 2 (Mau Than - Nguyen Van Cu - Vo Van Kiet Street); Intersection No. 3 (Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Van Cu Street); Intersection No. 4 (Nguyen Van Linh - 3 Thang 2 Street) and Intersection No. 5 (Nguyen Van Linh - 30 Thang 4 Street).

Priority will be given to implementing the project at two intersections with high traffic volume and frequent traffic jams: Intersection No. 1 (intersection of Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao streets) and Intersection No. 4 (intersection of Nguyen Van Linh - 3 Thang 2 streets).

Previously, on March 12, 2025, Ninh Kieu district started construction of intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao streets). It is expected that at the end of March, construction of intersection No. 4 (Nguyen Van Linh - 3 Thang 2 streets) will continue to start.
