According to Al Jazeera, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on July 30 that Canada and a number of Western countries intend to recognize the State of Palestine in the context of Israel continuing its attacks in Gaza.

Prime Minister Carney explained that Ottawa hoped a two-state solution could be achieved through a peace negotiation process, but that approach was "no longer viable."
"Canada will recognize the State of Palestine at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025," Prime Minister Carney told reporters.
The announcement follows similar statements by Britain and France earlier this month.
Prime Minister Carney stressed that this recognition is based on the promise of reform from the Palestinian Authority and President Mahmoud Abbas, as well as a commitment to hold general elections in 2026.
“Defending the two-state solution means standing with all those who choose peace over violence or terror,” the Canadian prime minister added.

According to RT, in a joint statement issued late on July 29 after a conference in New York (USA), the Foreign Ministers of Andorra, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia and Spain called on the international community to recognize the State of Palestine and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Previously, on July 24, President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will officially recognize the State of Palestine at a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, next September.
Mr Macron said the move was in pursuit of what he called a “historic commitment to a just and lasting peace” in the region.
