The 7th Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival in 2025: Honoring rare medicinal herbs and indigenous people's culture

DNO - On the evening of August 1, Nam Tra My commune, along with Tra Tap, Tra Van, Tra Leng and Tra Linh communes, organized the 7th Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival in 2025 with the theme "Ngoc Linh - the era of growth".

The festival aims to promote and honor the special value of the national treasure Ngoc Linh ginseng, a rare medicinal herb and the culture of the indigenous Xe Dang and Ca Dong people to the people of the country and friends around the world . Comrades in the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Da Nang City attended the festival.

The speech presented by Chairman of Nam Tra My Commune People's Committee Tran Van Man affirmed that this is an occasion to honor the special value of the national treasure Ngoc Linh ginseng, as well as an occasion to promote the potential and strengths of the city and arouse the pride and will to rise of the ethnic people in the majestic Truong Son range.

More specifically, this year's festival takes place at a historic and significant moment when the two-level local government has officially been in operation for exactly one month. This is an important milestone, marking a strong change in the organization of the apparatus, aiming to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management activities, serving the people in the best way.

The festival features many activities: trade, the "Soul of Ginseng" art program, the ritual of worshiping the God of Ginseng, the Ginseng Competition, the trading activities of Ngoc Linh ginseng, community tours to ginseng gardens... attracting the participation of many scientists , investors and managers and activities to promote tourism and attract investment in the medicinal herbs industry.

Speaking at the festival, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Quang Buu affirmed that the leaders of Da Nang city always deeply understand that the annual Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival is an event of great significance contributing to economic development, promoting sustainable poverty reduction, improving the material and spiritual life of people in mountainous areas in particular and the people of the whole city in general. "This is also an opportunity for us to honor one of the treasures of the mountains and forests, introducing to domestic and international friends a particularly rare medicinal plant of Vietnam, that is Ngoc Linh ginseng, considered the green gold that nature has graciously bestowed."

The leaders of the City People's Committee requested the Party Committee, government and people of the communes to focus on implementing well 5 major tasks:

Firstly, Party committees at all levels, authorities and all people need to make more efforts and strive, and propose appropriate solutions to successfully implement the targets set out in the Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels.

Second, effectively implement Decision No. 611/QD-TTg dated June 1, 2023 of the Prime Minister on approving the Program for developing Vietnamese ginseng to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Decision No. 463/QD-TTg dated February 28, 2025 of the Prime Minister on approving the Project on developing and forming a medicinal plant industry center with Ngoc Linh ginseng as the key crop.

In particular, focusing on promoting propaganda and mobilizing people to preserve and develop the original Ngoc Linh ginseng variety, not importing other ginseng varieties for planting in the area; detecting, denouncing, and fighting against fraudulent acts and illegal profiteering in breeding, planting, and trading fake Ngoc Linh ginseng products, contributing to protecting the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand - Vietnamese ginseng.

Third, well implement the planning for conservation and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng approved by competent authorities; coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology to strictly manage geographical indications of Ngoc Linh ginseng in recognized communes; effectively organize and implement Decree No. 183/2025/ND-CP and Decree 156/2018/ND-CP of the Government on cultivating, developing, and harvesting medicinal plants in special-use forests, protective forests, and production forests for households and groups of ethnic minority households growing Ngoc Linh ginseng in the planning area.

Fourth, take advantage of medicinal plants and Ngoc Linh ginseng to focus on developing eco-tourism, especially ginseng tourism; closely coordinate with the city's departments and branches to prepare the best conditions to successfully organize the Ngoc Linh Ginseng International Festival with the city in 2026.

Fifth, strengthen forest management and protection, forest planting and regeneration; closely link ginseng planting with forest protection and protection of the forest ecological environment in the area.
