
Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang welcomed Chinese Consul General in Da Nang Dong Bich Du to visit and work with Da Nang city.
The City Party Secretary said that Da Nang currently has 142 Chinese FDI projects with a total capital of more than 556 million USD, focusing on the fields of processing and manufacturing industry, garment, footwear, construction - mineral exploitation and services - tourism .
Export turnover to China averages 45 million USD/year; imports are about 200 million USD/year. Main exports include machinery and equipment, wood chips, handicrafts, agricultural and aquatic products; main imports are engines, components, machinery for production, iron and steel, textile raw materials, rubber, toys, chemicals, fertilizers, plastics, plastic granules and consumer goods.
Da Nang currently maintains official friendly relations with five Chinese localities: Shandong, Jiangsu, Macau, Kunming (Yunnan) and Guangxi; regularly organizes delegation exchanges, cultural exchanges and people-to-people cooperation activities.
The City Party Secretary said that after the merger, Da Nang has more room for development, in which industry is identified as a new growth driver alongside services and tourism.
In the south, Chu Lai Open Economic Zone has formed a center for automobile manufacturing, supporting industries and precision mechanics; in the north there is the High-Tech Park, focusing on the production of electronic components, software and artificial intelligence. With this potential, the city hopes that the Chinese side, especially the Consulate General, will continue to connect to attract more businesses to invest in Da Nang's priority areas.
The city is currently being issued by the Central Government with many outstanding special policies, especially the establishment of the International Financial Center and Free Trade Zone. This is a model that China has a lot of experience and success with, so Da Nang wishes to share, support, and at the same time promote cooperation in intensive Chinese language training.
Regarding cooperation with Guangxi, Da Nang is discussing to unify the contents, moving towards signing a new Memorandum of Understanding in early 2026, inheriting and developing from the friendly relationship between the former Quang Nam province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The city hopes to receive support in expanding exchange programs, as well as creating conditions for officials to participate in short-term training courses in China; hopes that the Chinese side will be interested in introducing investors to explore business opportunities and consider promoting the reopening of direct flights between Da Nang and Chinese localities. At the same time, hopes that the Consulate General will continue to promote its role as a bridge, enhancing cooperation between Da Nang and Chinese localities.
Consul General Dong Bich Du thanked the city leaders for their warm welcome and shared the difficulties and losses that Da Nang people had to endure due to natural disasters. At the same time, she highly appreciated Da Nang's development potential and emphasized her desire to further promote cooperation between the city and Chinese localities and enterprises.
The Consul General said he will introduce businesses to invest in Da Nang, especially in the Free Trade Zone, the International Financial Center and high-tech industries.
Along with that, it committed to supporting the expansion of cooperation in education and training, enhancing student exchanges and Chinese language training programs; and considering promoting the reopening of direct flights between Da Nang and Chinese localities to enhance trade and develop tourism.
Consul General Dong Bich Du believes that the cooperative relationship between Da Nang and Chinese partners will continue to develop extensively, contributing to the city's socio-economic growth goals in the coming time.
